Does anybody know why the flights from New York JFK and Newark came in too late today - and subsequently their return was delayed...?

I highly doubt there would be a market for flights ex-BRU to Paris... The competition with Air France/TGV is tough whereas time and money can be defined as the main reasons.

That's true, there are no flights CDG-BRU operated by Air France ...

Sorry I never heard this but I have read in October 2006 that Boston-Logan is working for more intercontinental flights includind Brussels.

American Airlines or Delta Air Lines could operate the BOS-BRU route. :)

I'm afraid this is an example of a codeshare flight, probably with Iberia.

E.g. American Airlines has also several codeshare flights intra-Europe with SN where these flights have an AA flightnumber.

So regarding the AA-flights: they could have departed on time in BRU then, depending on the distance in time between GHE and BRU, right?

The time ACARS mentiones is the time on which the flight is logged by the ACARS server.

According to my knowledge and to our system, the departure time of the JFK flight is 10.05am ...

The only AA flights where AA is the operating carrier are those between BRU-JFK and BRU-ORD.

All other flights between BRU-Europe and BRU-Africa are codeshare with SN Brussels Airlines and one world partners; whereof British Airways is operating carrier on the flights between ...

When I look at the departure times, it seems both flights had a delay app. 30 minutes... Was it bad weather or dense traffic then?

Flight AA172 left JFK with a delay because of mechanical problems. Consequently flight AA171 was delayed too.
The fogproblems in London taken into account, a fully booked ORD-flight and the busy Christmasperiod you can imagine it has been a huge challenge for AA Airport Staff to get all passengers ...

Have you checked American's fares already? They do offer smoothly connections out of Brussels via JFK and ORD to Mexico City.

I don't know their fares by heart, but they are similar to those of BA, KL and other major carriers.

As far is I know, American Airlines doesn't have concrete plans to operate a Brussels - Miami flight in the near future.
However, potential routes are regulary monitored - like with most of the airline companies.
