Re: Condor to BRU?

Interesting! Unless they are going to operate leisure flights to European destinations out of BRU, providing feed to their FRA long-haul is going to be challenging, what frequency would be required? They don't have anything smaller than an A320 so filling that twice-thrice a day might be a challenge ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Do we know how many they would get in total? SN now has 11 A330-300's with 2 more to come from LH, so I would assume they would receive at least 13 A350/787's, but would there be room for expansion?

Either way, it seems that those 10 A350's and 10 787's won't be enough for SN and would rather go ...

Re: BRU Summer 2026: news, new routes, airlines

Having experienced transferring at PEK, I hope they will improve the flow because when connecting with HU from BRU to NRT via PEK last Summer there was just one funnel and few agents for all transit passengers. Reminded me of old IST some years ago where everyone had to funnel into a narrow transfer ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Would be indeed a nice addition, but I guess it would be limited to 3 flights/w or so. If more, then expansion in Africa will be limited, especially since it was about new destinations, more frequencies and de-triangulation, no?

What you see nowadays is that airlines open routes rather quickly ...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU): Border control

They have modernised the arrival area in the B pier, for non-Schengen passengers. The number of e-gates for Belgians is limited, the number of e-gates for foreigners is non existent! I've been thru e-gates as a Belgian in many airports around the world. Indonesia is a dream: you just scan your ...

On a side note, also Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong are doing very good.

Do you have data? I flew CX to HKG in C early December and the cabin was full but I don't think the plane was. I flew SQ from SIN in PE last weekend and that cabin was less than 1/2, C seemed very spaced out, only Y ...

Re: BRU Summer 2026: news, new routes, airlines

And the right time to think about infrastructure expansion. Bcs, as I said before, the remote parking's will be full

I'd love to see the West Pier A materialise. It could be a non-Schengen wide-body infrastructure preferred for Star Alliance members, with very quick connections to SN's Schengen ...

I can vouch for Hainan being a superior hard product. But it's good to see some competition and some new dots on the map.

Re: SN long haul evening flights

I remember the pair of DC-10's overflying Schaerbeek in the evening 30 years ago, they were flying to East Africa, arriving there after sunrise, and returning to Europe during the day. You could say you loose a day's business on the way back, but it's exactly the same nowadays on the way going.

Re: BRU Summer 2026: news, new routes, airlines

A bit off topic but I didn't input the change of course :-)

I guess with Pier A West it would be possible to make the current T gates area permanently long-haul/non-Schengen for use by all Star Alliance airlines and dedicate pier B to all other carriers for long-haul/non-Schengen traffic.

Last connected to JFK via LHR in May-June, no need for ETA if you stay airside, incl. between terminals.

Re: BRU Summer 2025: news, new routes, airlines

That makes it seven Asian destinations by 6 different airlines:

There are much more Asian destinations out of BRU (ESB, EVN, BEY, AUH, DOH, DXB, etc.), these pertain to North/East/South-East Asia to be more specific.

Pity that Tokyo is only twice a week.

Indeed, they should revert to a B787 ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

What are the noise regulations exactly, in a nutshell?
Only noisy aircraft are not allowed during certain hours? Does this mean A350s or I guess B787s could operate at 3 or 4 AM?

OK I Google/Gemini'd this and it turns out there is a noise curfew 11 PM-6 AM with the shortest runway closed 11 PM-5 ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

There is no reason for the LH group to order any B781 at the same size but less performance than the B789.

Do you mean than the A359 there? Otherwise it's hard to understand.

I can see a number of factors that would make the B787-10 suited for SN as they don't need the performance of the A359 ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

From a frequent flyer's perspective I prefer both B787 and A350 (the latter being a bit more spacious in Y) thanks to their lower altitude cabins. I never suffered too much from the pressurisation and depressurisation cycles but they seem to make this even more unnoticeable, or it is my advancing ...
