I understood that (apart from the supposedly bad state of the runway) the runway was slippery as result of rain, after weeks of dry weather, which mostly (also on regular roads) result in dirt and grease stuck on surface suddenly to wash up with the rain.

however reportedly the F16's had to stay some 5km [3 mi] away from the plane while 'escorting' it. "normally" [in interception/escort mode] they fly right next to the plane. apparently that was an assessment as well.. whatever it was. the longer it stays silent about what REALLY happened, ...

I have flown with a late model IPTN CN-235 in Philippines [Asian Spirit], which had a hard time getting its certification properly done... it was ok.. i had more problems with the B737-200 from Air Philippines that had a left engine failure at take off, after a taxi down and trying to spin the engin...

The plane arrived around 11.30 AM inbound from London (LHR) with nearly 200 pax, during a heavy rainstorm/shower. [ahem... i know exactly how these are the last few days :roll: ]

All pax deboarded unharmed via the stairs.

Sorry but I have to disagree...its basically due to the advanced technology that many planes (of certain companies) did not crash yet. (sorry to say by this) one does not have to exclude the other. i do agree with technology having a major impact on improving flight safety. at the same time, people...
