Nice! LOT has been a Boeing customer even before the 1989 fall of the communist regime, since 1988. It certainly got excellent conditions from Boeing.

Besides the B767s and the B737s, LOT also has Embraers 170 (the first European airline to get them) and ATRs 42 and 72.

LOT has been owned at 30% by Swissair and I remember that the cooperation was good, because management was firmly in the hands of LOT directors and Swissair was only providing much needed capital and technical expertise.

I am afraid that undre Lufthansa LOT will completely loose its freedom to ...

To me, it will be a clear YES when Poland will have its referendum on the European Constitution, although, like our post-communist government itself, I regret the omission of the Christian roots of our civilisation in the preamble. If some moslim countries can refer to the Coran in their consitution ...

Usually airlines allow one small dog (less than 5 kg) in each cabin. I used to take my dog (a 3-kg Yorkshire terrier) with me on holiday, and she always travelled in a bag that I took with me. You will need a special ticket (normally the price of excess baggage).

What I liked most was the LOT (my national airline!) ERJ-170. It looks big outside, and very intimate inside, although very roomy at the same time.

And the flight attendants speak Polish :)

Emergency landing of SN Brussels A319 in Belarus

I read in the latest news that an SN A319 coming from Moscow had to land in Minsk, Belarus, yesterday afternoon.

1) Does anyone know what caused the emergency?

2) How were the passengers transferred to Brussels? From experience, Minsk is a devastated area, with a superb (empty) airport, but few ...

BRU-WAW-BRU with LOT

For urgent family reasons I had to go to Warsaw in a hurry. My passport had expired at the end of November, and I made the mistake not to renew it immediately. I had to ask for a new one with the 24 hrs urgency procedure: that has cost me a whopping 250€. So, if I may give you some advice, renew ...
