Attack on common values and on humanity

Declaration by Fritz Joussen, CEO of TUI Group, on the terrorist attack in Tunisia:

Together with all TUI Group employees, I am mourning the victims of the terrorist attack in Tunisia. We offer our condolences to the victims and their families. And our thoughts are with those injured and their relatives.

At the time of the attack, many TUI customers were on holiday in the region around Sousse and on the beach or in hotels close to the terrorist attack. The victims of this cowardly and barbaric terrorist attack in Tunisa also include TUI customers and RIU staff. As always, we are working closely with the Foreign Office in Berlin on security matters, and we also cooperate with the Tunisian authorities and foreign ministries of other countries.

Nevertheless, shortly after this heinous act of terrorism, many details of the attack still remain unclear. However, I should like to personally confirm that TUI is doing everything in its power to support those affected. We support our guests and assist them in a very difficult situation far from home. We therefore immediately dispatched TUI Care Teams with psychologically trained staff to Tunisia on Friday. They will take care of our customers on the site.

I am grateful to our colleagues working in Sousse and in the crisis management teams who are doing everything they can in order to ensure that our customers receive the best possible support and service. The killing of peaceful tourists is a cowardly attack on the young democracy in Tunisia, on our common values and on humanity.”

We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the friends and families of those involved in this tragic event.

We are actively working with the families and friends affected to provide support in resort and a special assistance team is en route to Tunisia to assist our customers.
