The fifth annual Safety Forum is taking place today and tomorrow, co-hosted by the European Regions Airline Association (ERA), Eurocontrol and the Flight Safety Foundation.

  • Around 300 international aviation safety experts are expected to attend the two-day event at Eurocontrol’s headquarters in Brussels.
  • This year’s forum will focus on the concept of ‘Preventing Runway Collisions’.

The forum is an excellent opportunity to learn and share experiences with runway safety teams, investigators and trainers. This year’s forum will consider industry best practice and functionality that can prevent incursions onto a runway that is already occupied by another aircraft. The forum will also explore what can be done to prevent a collision after a runway incursion has taken place and consider what this means for the industry understanding of runway collision risk.

Simon McNamara, ERA’s Director General, comments:

ERA is proud to once again co-host this important event with Eurocontrol and the Flight Safety Foundation. While aviation remains an extremely safe means of transport, it is important that the industry continues to look at ways of further improving safety standards. The Safety Forum is now in its fifth successive year and is an excellent opportunity to share experiences, learn from international safety experts and ensure that the public’s safety remains aviation’s priority.
