Smart Air SA is proud to become the first company in Europe to take delivery of Embraer’s state-of-the-art Legacy 450 mid-light business jet. On behalf of a customer, Smart Air will manage the first EASA-registered Legacy 450, which will be available for charter out of Brussels and operated by ASL .
The delivery of the first Legacy 450 to an Embraer customer outside Brazil and the U.S. took place during Christmas week.
The Legacy 450, the most recent product from Embraer, is the newest addition to the growing mid-light jet market. It received its EASA certification this summer, and its initial range of 2,575 nautical miles was increased to 2,900 nm during the NBAA event in Las Vegas, in November.
The Legacy 450 is a clean-sheet aircraft, meaning its design is not based on an aircraft already in service. This new concept allowed Embraer to incorporate many innovations in the aircraft. The Legacy 450’s impressive features extend from the flight deck to the cabin.
It has the largest cabin in its class–1.83m tall, 6.83m long and 2.08m wide with a flat floor. It also features enhanced connectivity systems and amenities for greater passenger comfort as well as a complete lavatory with vanity and wardrobe at the rear of the aircraft.
The aircraft is able to take off and land from runways around 1000m-long. The revolutionary Legacy 450’s unmatched advantages and features truly redefine the standards of what a mid-light jet should offer to its users.

Legacy 450 spreads its wings over European skies
Embraer Executive Jets’ Legacy 450 is spreading its wings over European skies. The first EASA-registered aircraft is based in Brussels, Belgium, under the management of Smart Air SA. The new mid-light business jet is available for charter and will be operated by ASL.
Embraer Executive Jets began deliveries of the newest aircraft in its portfolio of seven fully certified business jets on December of 2015. The Legacy 450 has received certification from the aeronautical authorities of Brazil, the United States and the European Union.

About the Legacy 450
The Legacy 450 is a mid-light business jet with a best-in-class 6-foot-tall flat-floor cabin. Four fully reclining club seats may be berthed into two beds for complete rest in a 6,000-foot cabin altitude. The optional in-flight entertainment system consists of a high-definition video system, surround sound, and multiple audio and video input options. Voice and data communications options are also available. The cabin includes a refreshment center at the entrance, a rear private lavatory with a vacuum toilet and an in-flight-accessible baggage area. The total baggage space is the largest in the aircraft’s category.
The Legacy 450 is the first business aircraft in its segment with full fly-by-wire technology, featuring side-stick flight controls, the state-of-the-art Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics suite with four 15.1-inch high-resolution LCD displays, and paperless operations capability, with graphical flight planning, Jeppesen charts and maps and a synthetic vision system. The optional Embraer Enhanced Vision System (E2VS) features a Head-up Display (HUD) and an Enhanced Video System (EVS).
The Legacy 450 is powered by two advanced, fuel-efficient Honeywell HTF 7500E turbofan engines, the greenest in their class.
Embraer’s business jets deliveries hit 5-year high
Embraer Executive Jets delivered 120 aircraft in 2015, the highest level in five years. The result meets the company’s delivery guidance for the year and represents a 3% increase over 2014.
The 2015 numbers were boosted mainly by 70 Phenom 300 deliveries and 20 units of the new Legacy 500 — in its first full year of deliveries.
In the period, the company shipped a total of 82 light business jets and 38 large jets. A large portion of deliveries took place during the last quarter of 2015, when 45 aircraft were shipped.
Embraer Executive Jets also started deliveries of its newest business jet, the Legacy 450. The serialized production began shortly after the Legacy 450 received the aeronautical authorities’ approval, meeting the company’s commitment to deliver the first aircraft in the fourth quarter of 2015. The first three Legacy 450s were delivered in December.
As predicted by Embraer, deliveries in 2015 reflected a higher potential demand for midsized jets, boosted by the US market. The midsize Legacy 500 and the mid-light Legacy 450 are the first jets in their classes to replace conventional controls with digital flight controls with full fly-by-wire technology in a stand-up cabin with a flat floor.
In 2015, Embraer Executive Jets’ global fleet reached 975 aircraft, which are in operation in more than 60 countries.
