But the union said action had come about because the airline had treated staff who had participated in earlier strike action unfairly. "Punishing staff for using legitimate industrial means to reach a wage deal is a culture that Unite cannot accept," it added..."
They probably won't get it back though, the company feels, and rightly so imo, that in that way it disadvantages the crew who DID come work, took the brunt and operated more than their schedule agreement to ensure all flights were operated.

Just to make sure: the above quote "..But the union said action had to come about because the airline..." is not a quote from me: it's a quote from the BBC article I referred to.

The customs agents at Belgian airports threaten to strike Monday morning. Travellers are advised to come early at their respective airports.

It seems that today's let's-harrass-the-passengers-action at CRL Charleroi was very limited, compared to the same activities at BRU Brussels:

The new government of Wallonia is not yet in place that the socialist union FGTB is already threatening with a strike of all the public sector of Wallonia (thus also the airports of Liege and Charleroi) on 30 June, a day of many holiday departures.

Reason for the strike: "...we, the leftist union, have heared some rumours that..."

BSCA CEO Jean-Jacques Cloquet (who has a good relationship with the unions and no political affililation) is not amused and threatens back: "If they go on strike for a reason that has nothing to do with the airport, I resign."
