Re: VLM Airlines news 2016
Oh no, not another FVG airline saga.
Re: VLM Airlines news 2016
Meanwhile Peoples Vienna Line are preparing to launch some flights from FDH.
All set for VLM's demise, unfortunately.

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016
Not entirely; VLM has been paying their German creditors and their flights from/to FDH have a LF > 60%.

If you are referring to the previous post, about Vizion Air: Freddy Van Gaever is not involved with The Aviation Factory or Vizion Air.flymd11 wrote:Oh no, not another FVG airline saga.
If you are referring to a scenario after VLM's possible bankruptcy: that would mean that "the CityJet saga" wasn't very successfull. I prefer to wait for the trade court's decision to put my bets.
As long as they don't open the same routes, there is no real problem.flymd11 wrote:Meanwhile Peoples Vienna Line are preparing to launch some flights from FDH.

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016
People's Viennaline will open a route to Cologne-Bonn, so probably it will have an effect on the Dusseldorf route. But as they have also "Business fares"the effect won't be that bad I guess.
Re: VLM Airlines news 2016
According to this source, they were planning to lease a Fokker 50 from VLM this summer. Customer rather than competitor, so it seems...
Re: VLM Airlines news 2016
VLM operates sundays the Vienna route from April till September, as well the weekly Pula flights from Altenrhein.

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016
Vizion Air will find a way. Partner with the new VLM, lease some aircraft and put it on another AOC. The thing is , we built a good clientèle that gives us 1000-1500 hours of adhoc a year in that segment. The biggest challenge is having the clients. Finding capacity to cover that is reasonably easy. And we will keep the aircraft(s) in ANR I think. The future looks good I might say.

From The Aviation Herald:
Incident: VLM F50 at Waterford on May 20th 2016, nose gear steering failure
A VLM Fokker 50, registration OO-VLI performing flight W2-6142 from London Luton,EN (UK) to Waterford (Ireland) with (*) passengers and 4 crew, was on final approach to Waterford's runway 03 when the crew went around and decided to divert to Dublin. On approach to Dublin the crew advised they had a problem with the nose gear steering, needed a towbar for the F50 and a tug to vacate the runway as quickly as possible. The aircraft was vectored for an approach to Dublin's runway 28 and stopped on the runway, while the airport switched to runway 16. The Fokker 50 was subsequently towed off the runway.
(*) the number of passengers is in the report on AvHerald.com:

OO-VLI flew from Dublin to Antwerp the next day, but at 9.000 ft:

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016
In less then 24 hours, we'll know the decision from the trade court. So far the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority didn't intervene, VLM Airlines keeps on flying and the trade court didn't took an immediate decision. So my bets are that the trade court will accept the recovery plan under WCO/LCE (protection against creditors).

Quite a nice respite! Should be enough to prepare a strong business plan.Passenger wrote:The trade court from Antwerpen has given VLM Airlines six months protection against creditors, as per the Belgian legislation Wet Continuïteit Ondernemingen / Loi relative à la Continuité des Entreprises.saratoga wrote:http://www.gva.be/cnt/dmf20160525_02306 ... opig-gered
Re: VLM Airlines news 2016
Flights from Waterford to Luton will be suspended from 8th till 16th June. Don't know if they are not longer interested in Waterford.
Re: VLM Airlines news 2016
According to Waterford Airport, VLM will discontinue services from Waterford to London Luton from the 16th June. "Please contact VLM for reimbursement".Xavi wrote:Flights from Waterford to Luton will be suspended from 8th till 16th June.
Will there be any routes left over?
I copy a comment and graph from Raphael Cockx: "Over the last 16 months, VLM Airlines has launched 14 new routes. Only 5 now remain (in white)". Didn't anyone make a market survey before launching these routes?

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016
To get protection against creditors (WCO/LCE) from the trade court, they had to file a recovery plan. Part of that plan was probably that "risky routes" had to be cancelled - thus Waterford-Luton. It's a route with both airports not linked to another VLM route, thus more expensive for handling & crew costs.sn26567 wrote:According to Waterford Airport, VLM will discontinue services from Waterford to London Luton from the 16th June. Re: VLM Airlines news 2016
Too bad...I would have thought that at least on this route they would have been making some operational profit. But also too many unpaid bills overthere, forcing VLM out of both airports?according to Waterford Airport, VLM will discontinue services from Waterford to London Luton from the 16th June. Anyway,VLM already eliminated Luton and Waterford from their booking tool,it seems. (2 days ago they were still showing).
Waterford community loses their only scheduled link.
