SN stops BRU<->RIX route from 11 January 2016
I just received official confirmation from Brussels Airlines that they will stop flying SN2367 BRU->RIX and SN2368 RIX->BRU from 20160111. What a pity removals from the flight schedule are always happening so silently!
Since I fly this route (very) regularly, I can only hope that FR increases its frequency or BT lowers its pricing...

Pity... was it a daily flight?

Until 20/12 6 weeklybrusselsairlinesfan wrote:Pity... was it a daily flight?
Until 09/01 5 weekly
As found in link below
Bit sad, though I understand
BT flies twice daily as well, though RIX basically is the hub of the baltics
Luckily there will be codeshare, but I hoped for SN expansion to HEL and/or TLL, so maybe this Region is not that easy. Sparsely populated, rather low income, quite some LCC in Riga as well

Coming back to HEL would be good news... as fares on that route are too high and AY left alone!

Sad to hear indeed but I don't think putting such kind of news on every billboard in the city would be a great publicity...paladokus wrote: What a pity removals from the flight schedule are always happening so silently!

Shouldn't the title be 11 January 2016 instead of 11 November 2016? Or am I missing something?paladokus wrote:I just received official confirmation from Brussels Airlines that they will stop flying SN2367 BRU->RIX and SN2368 RIX->BRU from 20160111. Indeed, but a press release wouldn't be a bad idea (though I've to find the airline which actually does this).airtrainer wrote:Sad to hear indeed but I don't think putting such kind of news on every billboard in the city would be a great publicity...paladokus wrote: What a pity removals from the flight schedule are always happening so silently!

I flew on BRU-RIX on August and the route suspension doesn't surprise me regarding the poor loadfactor I've noticed. Of course this single observation might be not representative. On the other hand, BRU-VNO seems to perform well: the Avro are becoming very rare.

I think I will open a new permanent thread on cancelled routes. If airlines are prone to announce new routes, they tend to forget issuing a press release when a route is cancelled. This week KLM proudly announced a new route to Salt Lake City, but forgot to tell that at the same time they are cancelling Dallas-Fort Worth.

Time to re-launch the BRU - HEL route on SN magic wings?!

Yes, please.brusselsairlinesfan wrote:Time to re-launch the BRU - HEL route on SN magic wings?!
I guess this SN's Riga connection was mainly for the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2015. So maybe there will be an SN connection to Helsinki in 2020 when Finland has the presidency.
