20th international oldtimer fly-in Schaffen

Post by luchtzak »

On the 14th and the 15th it's oldtimer-time again in Schaffen near Diest! I am sure that after 2 years of inactivity (last year the event was cancelled) many people are eager again to go to the event!

And probably, Ill be there :) I hope that I'll receive access again to see the birds from near by instead of watching them from behind the fence. Oh, and the best day is the Saturday, because on Sunday, the most planes are already leaving.

Probably I'll be there too :D Schaffen is just 20km away from my home, and in 2002 I was very stupid as I decided not to visit the event. Last year it was cancelled as Bart mentioned, so I really want to go this year, especially as I also very like the light aviation stuff.

The arrivals for the Fly-In traditionaly start already at Friday afternoon (when mostly far-away participants already arrive as for example from Switzerland and Italy).

Let's hope that the weather is a little bit cooperative as it is really TERRIBLE this summer  Normally I would have been at FRA next Tuesday but I'll have to wait until the weather is nice (hopefully in the next couple of weeks).

Regards, Robin Bamps.

Not sure if I can make it this time as my family require a chauffeur for the vacation!

In 2002 I went Friday evening (bad accident on road around 9pm due to difficult entrances to airfield), all day Saturday and Sunday until 3pm

Excellent weekend

If light aircraft are your thing then a dive to Metz this weekend for the RSA Rally at Chambley would fulfil your dreams as there are normally 500+ aircraft visiting. I can't go this year unfortunately.
