Once boarded a friendly FA greeted me at the door. You could see the difference between the FA and the Purser (Chef De Cabine) as she had orange accents on the uniform. Once you come on board you directly enter the economy cabin, no bulkhead between the door and the cabin. The interior is one of the latest but you could tell the plane is used intensively as it had usage marks all over it from passing food carts and carry on luggage. Difference between the -200 of Brussels Airlines; 2 toilets at the end of the first cabin economy and 2 in the galley. Another difference is that all doors have the same size in stead of the smaller door behind the wings on the SFU/Y/Z. My seat for today's flight was 40A, all the way in the back on the right side 40-42 HK is reserved for crew rest with installed curtains which can be closed during rest periods.

Every seat has it own PTV with a remote control installed in the armrest and the power box underneath the seat but still you had enough space for your feet as it was placed right in between the two seats. As the STD went by the captain made an anouncement that 7 pax were missing and they would start searching through the luggages to offload them. At 07:48 pushback was initiated and the 10 minute taxi time started to the runway.

Right after T/O a left turn was made and straight to Barcelona, weather on route was bit turbulent during climb out but throughout the flight scattered clouds and smooth flying conditions.

Load factor on this flight was far from full, only around 135 pax on board with 0 in business class. As soon as cruising altitude was reached the cabin crew started with the inflight service which includes a Buy On Board service in the economy cabin. Blankets and pillows were available on request as it was an early departure some of the other pax asked for those items. The IFE itself is a bit outdated as the image was not very clear you could compare it with an old and well played cassette. Only promotional movies were shown no option to choose from videos.

Around 08:30 descent into BCN started with an approach over the water to land on the 25R at 08:58.

Thanks for this nice illustrated report.

An A330 for such a short trip seems strange. Is the main purpose to bring connecting passengers to/from long-haul flights in MAD ?

I was surprised myself to see such a big plane for such a short route but it's definitely not positioning because all the long haul flights leave from MAD maybe just connecting for Skyteam pax and maybe extra cargo . Iberia used to fly the route with their A340-600 in the past
