Ryanair today reported record bookings from American customers following the launch of its new United States Ryanair website in December.
The site enables flight bookings to be made in dollars and bookings from the US have increased by almost 50pc in the two months since it went live, the airline said.

London Stansted-Dublin is the most popular route for US visitors, followed by Edinburgh-Dublin, Rome-Barcelona, Paris-Dublin and Frankfurt Hahn-London Stansted, with the most bookings coming from customers living in California, New York, Texas, Florida and New Jersey.

Ryanair today (19 Feb) launched a partnership with Vodafone Ireland under which Vodafone will support Ryanair’s communications and IT needs across Europe, including its ticketing, check-in, ground crew, inflight crew and pilot systems.
Vodafone will provide local and wide area network access, telephony, fixed line and mobile 3G and 4G functionality across Ryanair’s 189 locations in Europe and North Africa, while the partnership will also allow the roll out of Electronic Flight Bags (iPads in the flight deck), creating paperless cockpits, as well as a new inflight sales system, as part of Ryanair’s “Always Getting Better” improvement programme. -

In addition, Vodafone will support the on-board electronic point of sale (EPOS) devices used for in-flight credit card sales. From April 2015 Ryanair crew will be issued with 8,000 new handheld devices with machine to machine connectivity which will create a secure managed connection to sync data with credit card companies when the plane lands.
Vodafone Machine-to-Machine (M2M) connects previously isolated machines or devices to the Internet, delivering new functionality and enhanced services without the need for human intervention.

When I talked with Yann Delomez in Brussels a couple of weeks ago, he recognised that the app was very slow, but promised that a new app would be introduced in March-April that would solve the problem. A first result of the new cooperation?

“It’s logical that over the next number of years Ryanair will probably feed into some other airlines’ long-haul services,” its chief executive told the Irish Independent, adding that "the arrangements wouldn’t be complicated”.
“Could we feed into Aer Lingus’ transatlantic (services) in Dublin? Yes, it’s an obvious development,” he said.

Ryanair is positioning itself among “those types of brands which represent the European zeitgeist that savvy living is a good thing, and being smart with your money is quite good,” chief commercial officer Kenny Jacobs said.
Ryanair is two-thirds of the way through the “heavy lifting” of its transformation plan, Mr Jacobs said, having rolled out changes ranging from the acceptance of American Express credit cards to the introduction of in-flight milk-warming for babies, allocated seats and early boarding.
While the old no-frills focus aimed to add clients, as the annual passenger tally nears 100m the strategy is “about retention,” he said.
The carrier is looking to be not purely an airline but “more like a travel retailer which specialises in flights,” he added, citing the expansion of Amazon into new markets.

Bullsh.. ! This is an insult against Aldi, Ikea and H&M. Ryanair cannot be compared to them at all. Ryanair is Ryanair: the most used airline in Europe, only because they are extremely cheap (= for those who know how to avoid the traps).

Every change that has been made recently, was done because of outside or legal pressure.

If you go to Ikea and you have forgotten your customer fidelity card, they don't charge you 15 € or 70 €: they'll give you a printed version valid for one day, for free.

If you have bought something at H&M and you don't like, it, you get a full refund. They don't say "sorry, but we don't refund the VAT on your purchase", like Ryanair does with the non-refundable airport taxes.

And if you come to pick up your furniture without your payment receipt .. will you still receive them? Because that's actually what you do when you don't have a boarding card and you try to get onto the plane? (Apart from the security risks that are present in the airline industry.

The airline gets them charged anyway for whatever reason the passengers wants his refund. So if the airline needs to pay it on your behalf regardless, why would you get them refunded as well?

Hi,

I'm sorry but I'm surely NOT mental but I also didn't found ever a fare of 69 euro at SN site on timings which allow me to have an attractive day out or weeknds...
But as proof I'm not mental I have made bookings on SN at 37-50-55 euros even a dayreturn :p
But not on a SN site offcourse...

And if I can say any pro's and contra's of SN/FR is totally mental in my opinion..
They fly both from BRU,you even don't get free luggage at that rate, no food nor drinks...
What's the difference really ? An airbridge? 250 miles MM return ? And an airbus instead of a blue-yellow Boeing ?

I prefer SN yes ! but I see nowadays less and less reasons why.... ( sometimes SN is just cheaper just not on their site )
