[PICS] BRU EU-Africa summit 2014
Hello dear members,
For those who where there or could not attend the 4th EU-Africa summit from 2-3 April 2014.
Here a photoreport. Report is from the days 1 and 3 April (Tuesday and Thursday) and includes a number of arrivals and departures after the summit. Basically arrivals where spread from Monday till Friday (with some exceptions arriving on Sunday) and the inbound peak on Tuesday, the outbound peak on Thursday and Friday.
Since on the 1-2 April there also was a NATO foreign ministers meeting, also some visitors of that meeting are included.
I did not see them all, missed a few (due to late or early arrivals and could not be there any day the whole day).
TUE 01/04/2014 - Arrivals
the day started with the first 'race' to 25R for this one - "MAURITANI 001" - Mauritania Airways B737-700Wgl 5T-CLC
and back to the 25L ... "IAM400" Italy Airforce Piaggio P-180 'Avanti'
Czech Airforce Yak-40 for the NATO foreign ministers meeting
then this one came in again on the 25R ... Turkish Airforce Gulfstream G-IV TC-ATA "TURKISH 5"
just as I began to settle down at the 25R ... speaking about a crazy day ...
German Airforce A340-300VIP 16+01 "GERMAN AIRFORCE 886", also for NATO meeting
French Airforce Embraer EMB-121 'Xingu'
UK Airforce Agusta/Westland AW-190E Power Elite G-CDVB with UK delegation for NATO meeting
US Airforce VC-32A "SIERRA-621" with US Secretary of Foreign Affairs John Kerry on board for NATO meeting
my personal highlight was the long awaited 'rendez-vous' with this one here ... Republic of Niger B737-200/Adv. 5U-BAG as "NIGER-01"
Republique Du Chad Mc Donnel Douglas MD-87 TT-ABC as "CHAD001"
Republique du Senegal Airbus A319-CJ 6V-ONE "SENEGAL-1"
Republic of Bulgaria Dassault Falcon 2000 LZ-001
"ETHIOPIAN 8704" arriving with the Ethiopian delegation
Italy Airforce Dassault Falcon 900 MM-62244
Lybian delegation arriving with this private BD-700 Global Express 5000
Tunisian delegation doing likewise, with Falcon 900 TS-JSM
Uganda Airforce Gulfstream G-IV(SP) 5X-UGF
Republic of Swaziland Mc Donnel Douglas MD-87 3DC-SWZ
Comlux Airbus A319-CJ 9H-AVK "LUXMALTA 337" with delegation of Djibouti on board
MidEast Jet Boeing B777-200(ER) N777AS as "CAMEROON-1"
for change, one that was not in for NATO or Africa summit but just because you don't see too many pics of this one at BRU ... was happy to see one finally
"GERMAN CARGO 117"
THU 03/04/2014 - Departures
Hellenic Airforce Embraer EMB-135(LR) 135L-484
the 'Albino' Saudi Cargo B744
Royal Moroccan Air Force Cessna 560XL 'Citation Excel' CN-AMK as "RMAF1" to Rabat
"CHAD001" departing to Paris le Bourget
Republique Gabonaise Gulfstream G-IV(SP) TR-SKP. "RCA1" with delegation of Central African Republic on board with destination Paris le Bourget
Burkina Faso Boeing B727-200(Wgl)/Adv. XT-BFA "BRAVO-FOXTROTT-ALPHA-1" out on it's way back home to Ouagadougou
this is the reason I went out for the departures, to finally catch one of those African 727's at BRU. Last year in May missed all 3 of them ...

Re: [PICS] BRU EU-Africa summit 2014
Thanks Yannick and HVS89 - some wonderful pics there (and truly exotic vintage birds - not in the least the Niger, Burkina Faso and Swaziland government planes) ... Is there a list available of which African countries attended the summit and what aircraft brought them there ?

Capetown

Hi
Nice ones Hadrien! Not the least thing to say you had a great office view up there, DAMN lucky you! I'm glad for you that you could still see the Africa summit from there gives some nice new angles.
Really would have loved to have a shot like the 'line-up' but some planes already left by Thursday and police was very strict around Abelag (first 2 checkpoints was 'ok' but the last one at the Abelag parking posed a problem... soooo typical).
Capetown: Well I wouldn't know about a list, I know there where 80 delegations to attend (don't know if that are effectivly 80 different countries though...) I can only offer you this list already and available for completion by other members

Re: [PICS] BRU EU-Africa summit 2014
What interests me.. is that some parked at Melsbook and others at Abalag.. yet there did not seem to be logic or rule.... any ideas how it was decided who parked where ?
Re: [PICS] BRU EU-Africa summit 2014
Thanks again Yannick. As you seem to suggest, some countries are missing. South Africa cancelled its attendance of the summit, but other "larger" countries are indeed missing : Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan, DRC, Zim, Zam, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique (just to mention a few). Maybe they didn't participate ?Bruspotter wrote:Hi

Zimbabwe also cancelled, some used regular transport.capetown wrote:South Africa cancelled its attendance of the summit, but other "larger" countries are indeed missing : Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan, DRC, Zim, Zam, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique (just to mention a few).
Can anyone confirm, F-HEBO was used by the Benin delegation ? It is rumoured the aircraft was used by Burkina Faso.
