[TR] Honeymoon in the Azores - SATA and the A310
Good Morning!
I finally got the time to put online my trip report on my flights to the Azores. Please find it on my blog:
http://point-n-spot.blogspot.be/2013/06 ... u-lis.html
The main part of this report (I hope I'll find the time to write about the other flights of the honeymoon) is about our flight on SATA's A310 from Lisbon to the Azores in C Class. We had lots of surprises, including:
- go-around
- diversion
- cancellation
- ...
Hope you'll enjoy the read

Wow! What an adventure! And that on a honeymoon trip where everything should go as scheduled. At least you did not get bored...
A hot meal on TAP in Y was a nice surprise, I guess.
An upgrade to C on SATA for only 50 € was even a better surprise.
And for the rest, adventure is part of life. Never experienced loss of baggage? Happened to me several times, and also items stolen from baggage. You'll have your turn
Thanks again for very nice report!

Nice report , thank you ! You never know what is going to happen once you board an airplane (for me that was flying to the USA on 9/11, but that is another story).
How about your trip to Pico (PIX) ? How was that flight and island ? Did you climb the vulcano ?

Thanks André! For sure I did not get bored. And, for once, I was not too stressed about schedule. We had 2,5 weeks of holiday, booked with a travel agency (a first for me) that took care of everything, and I must say that after all, what counted most at that moment, was not especially the destination, but to be with my wifesn26567 wrote:Wow! Yup, I know my turn will come with the luggage... but not too early pleasesn26567 wrote: And for the rest, adventure is part of life. Never experienced loss of baggage? Happened to me several times, and also items stolen from baggage. You'll have your turn
Thanks Andorra Airport. I'm now curious to read about "your" 9/11. For the intra-islands flights, I'll write part 2 in the coming weeks (PDL-PIX and PIX-TER). I can already say that there were less surprises, but the flights were nice. And due to the bad weather (worse "Spring" they had since 1931!), it was not possible to climb the Vulcano Pico. Unfortunately, the week on Pico island was very bad, weather wise, with lots of fog (you could not see further than 2m (really!)) and rain. But that is the charm of the Azores, and what makes them so uniqueandorra-airport wrote: How about your trip to Pico (PIX) ? How was that flight and island ? Did you climb the vulcano ?
Thanks Lex! I paid the taxi myself to the airport (around 10Eur, I would say it was cheap, considering it was past 22:00, and compared with a cab ride from/to BRU). And no, it wasn't paid by SATA (we were not treated differently with a C-Class ticket). We were told at Terceira, before boarding the ship, that there would be representatives of SATA to arrange for a transfer to the airport. We had no choice but to believe them, and there was no point in starting an argument. And as I wrote, nobody from SATA was there when we arrived at the seaport of Ponta Delgada.cathay belgium wrote:Hi,

Nice trip report! I too have sailed several times on the Express Santorini between the Greek islands.
It is owned by the Greek company Hellenic Seaways and is on charter to Atlantico Line. If you want some info on the ships details check out this link:

This ferry also used to sail in Belgium many years ago!

Thanks, theeuropean!
Interesting info on the website you mention. I did not know that the SNCF owned and operated ships in the past.
