The planned mega commercial center "Uplace", under the Vilvoorde viaduct, includes a tower 94,6 m high.
Belgocontrol has pointed out that so high a tower would be a problem on the approach to Zaventem airport.

Saudi Arabian Cargo will start flights from the new Al-Maktoum International Airport (this airport is still under construction, but opened in June 2010 for freight operations) to Brussels and Amsterdam.

As from next month Saudi will operate two weekly flights between Al-Maktoum and Brussels and one weekly flight between Al-Maktoum and Amsterdam.

The flights are part of a global part charter partnership between Saudi Airlines Cargo and DHL Global Forwarding.

Are these two new flights or is it just a change of two of their 21(?) weekly flights to BRU?

No, these are not additional cargo flights of Saudi but they are flying under the name of DHL. DHL "hired" them to open this new cargo flight ex-BRU and this twice a week.

As per 13FEB12 GDS timetable and inventory display, Estonian Air is introducing Embraer E170 aircraft, which the airline leased from Finnair.

Among the planned E170 routes:

Tallinn – Brussels eff 01MAY12, OV175/176 Day 2

Source: Airline Route
Estonian Air is set to increase frequencies on its Brussels-Tallinn route to 11 flights a week from March 26 after the carrier reported increased demand from business and leisure travellers.

The service, which is operated in a codeshare with Brussels Airlines, is the only direct route between the two cities.

In March 2011, Estonian Air increased its flights on this route to six a week in response to passenger demand.

On the Brussels-Tallinn route demand has always been high, so far coming mainly from business travellers but recently we have also seen growth in leisure travellers who fly to Brussels for a weekend to enjoy its vivid city life and culture,” said Rauno Parras, CCO of Estonian Air.

Jos Stroobants, director of aviation development at Brussels Airport, said: “Travellers can now fly to Tallinn on two daily flights, giving an optimal early morning and late afternoon schedule for business. The flight offers many extra seats for leisure passengers to explore the beautiful city of Tallinn, a Unesco World Heritage site”.

Hainan Airlines will go daily on BRU-PEK, previously they planned an increase from 4 to 6 weekly, but now they'll go daily as from 1 july.

The last time I checked flights to PEK for this summer there were no flights on wednesday (departure from BRU). And a while after the collapse of Malév, Hainan officially announced they would stop BUD-PEK (2 weekly) and they would add flights to their BRU and BER routes. So it seems BRU gets one extra daily flight, on wednesday. I checked the first (full) week of July and only on wednesday there is not SN codeshare mentionned, so I assume this flight is quite recent in the GDS.

So after the 2-3 weekly (depending on period) flight to Shangai was cancelled, Hainan will be daily in BRU again this summer, but this time on just one route.

Eastern Airways to Operate Southampton-Brussels

Eastern Airways says that it has "stepped in to secure the future of the Southampton-Brussels route" after Flybe withdrew on 28 February. The new services will start on Monday 16 April.

Eastern Airways is the UK's second largest regional airline after Flybe. It will offer daily flights (except Saturdays) to Brussels, leaving Southampton at 11.10 on Mondays and Tuesdays, 13.00 on Wednesdays and 10.55 on Thursdays and Fridays.

Returning from Brussels the flight will depart at 13.55 on Mondays and Tuesdays, 15.45 on Wednesdays and 13.40 on Thursdays and Fridays.

On Sundays the flight will depart at 16.55 for Brussels and the return service will operate from Brussels at 19.30.

Eastern's commercial director Kay Ryan stated: "The continuation of the Southampton-Brussels route is great news for business and leisure travellers on the south coast of England... business travellers flying on Sundays in time for Monday morning meetings will benefit from later flights."

Eastern Airways has a fleet of 30 aircraft flying to 21 airports in the UK, Ireland, Norway and France. Its fleet consists of Embraer 135/145s, Saab 2000s and BAe Jetstreams. It operates around 800 flights a week.

Aegean Airlines revised its plan to operate two daily A319 to BRU next summer, instead they'll continue to operate 2 daily A320. They'll also operate Corfu (1 weekly) and Irakleion (2 weekly), also with A320, as planned.

Edit: Was already mentionned...didn't saw it because I focused on the Eastern Airways press release...

Brussels Airlines is awarded by Athens International Airport as fastest airline growing airline at ATH in Western Europe. This about the difference between 2010 and 2011, when SN doubled its flights to ATH.

Indeed, Royal Jordanian will end flights between Amman and Al Ain, Brussels, Munich and two other destinations in the Gulf, reports the Jordanian Petra news agency.

Little of topic: Munich will stay... A pitty It is not Brussels. :?

OLT Express Germany (OL, Bremen Neuenland (BRE)) has reached an agreement with the administrators of insolvent Cirrus Airlines (C9, Saarbrücken Ensheim (SCN)) to take over the company for an undisclosed sum. OLT plans to base three 100 seat aircraft, possibly EMB-190s, at Saarbrücken Ensheim (SCN) and take over 100 Cirrus employees marketing, sales and distribution department as well as the technical services and tour operating divisions of Cirrus.

Brussels National Zaventem (BRU), Copenhagen Kastrup (CPH), Vienna International (VIE) and Zurich Kloten (ZRH) have been mentioned as possible destinations from Saarbrücken.

Can we also expect codeshares on destinations beyond BRU and BKK?

Given both are STAR partners, it would make sense for Thai to put it's code on flights from BRU to for instance NCL, just to give an example and v.v.

I couldn't find the specific SN summer 2012 topic, so here I am on this one.

1. SN seems to have already dropped its second flight to Moscow. Since it is (was?) a night flight, unavailability of a/c is not an explanation.

2. Strangely, SN seems to be keeping 2 daily flights to Athens, contrary to the indications in its new timetables.

Are these changes permanent or temporary for the Easter holidays season?

If it's a change of tactics, it's quite a fast reaction after only a week in the summer schedules!

The nightflights to DME are still offered for booking at present, so where did you see that, if I may ask?

The departures panels on Brussels Airport site haven't shown it since monday and flightradar24 playback didn't show any either. Which date did you check?
Greetings.

Remember we're in the middle of the Eastern holidays right now.

Pick any normal day in April or May for instance however and you'll find just one ATH and 2 DME flights, at least that's what their own booking engine does so you're most likely looking at a modified schedule over this holiday period...
