They know all too well that staff (their employers) and car rental companies are paying.

I've done some research online and almost all (medium to large) European airports have ongoing (new) terminal projects (expansions/renovations). I know BRU is also (very, very, very slowly) working on something, but to the outside world it remains silent.... Not a single plan or image has been presented... Apart from a new parking building.

Example: the plans of Helsinki (smaller airport than BRU):

When it comes to airport infrastructure, the pax experience at BRU really is sub par compared to other EU airports. The most awful experience is for pax who arrive by the drop-off area, bus or taxi. They get to 'experience' the most horrible airport infrastructure I've ever seen in the developed world.

Broken concrete, puddles of water, poor signage, loose cables hanging on the walls,...

BRU really needs to step up its game. No time to waste.

BRU is a disgrace.
One of the worst airports in Europe.
Only the Connector and Pier A look more or less up to date.
Rest is Sub standard. Ugly. Obsolete.Dirty.

At this rate, kinda related to infrastructure :
The ECAir 757 which has been standing for 8 years on taxiway P5 (near the start of 25L, next to Tervuursesteenweg) should finally be dismantled in the coming weeks.

But it's not a standstill in 1996 they delivered A pier and main building the B came just after it's almost new and these are quality buildings with sufficient airbriges I don't see the problem.

Oh please... That's beyond a mere exaggeration.
There are certainly things overdue, mosyly the bus station and car drop off is definitely not at all OK for an airport like BRU (BAC can f*ck off with the excuse it's only temporary - in the time it's there it could have been repaved, properly painted, got some nice LED lighting, a proper covered walkway from the car drop off without being half flooded when it rains a bit, .... 10 times and still being worth the small investment). Also many parts of the 90's terminal and Pier B are not of the freshest design, but that's like half of European airports. And finally I also absolutely hate the lack of toilet capacity at BRU.

But for the rest calling it one the worst in Europe is just totally insane. Either you don't know other European airports as well as you imply with such statement, or you are just plainly dishonest.

Worst ?

Over 25 000 reviews on Google. Not 1 or 10 reviews but over 25 000. Average : 4/5 .

I think enough to have real opinions abt the airport

Either people are blinds or they are paid by Brussels Airport to post positives reviews

Exactly!!!

Such easy fixes, but nothing happens. I sometime wonder what they do all day in their shiny new "Compass" offices...

Are you impressed by reviews ??
Organized by BAC themselves ?

Every airport of any big city in EU is way better than BRU. Maybe in Bulgaria, Moldavia... there are worse cases.
What are the managers doing in their fancy offices? They make big plans like BRU 2040… nice video, blabla. Then nothing...

Even quick fixes are not done.
for a country with so many opportunities,
We must be ashamed about pitious state and appearance of our main airport.
It is a clear case of negligence and incompetence. BRU looks more and more like most of our railway stations.

It's the othey way around, terminal and B-pier in the ninetjes, A-pier in 2001 ;)

But, you're right... BRU is very convenient and not outdated at all. Some parts of AMS look like the B-pier by the way, just like in many surrounding airport. Sure, of Singapore or Dubai are your standard, it's another story

Actually, we are not really a country with many opportunities. Quite the contrary, certainly in Flanders. BAC has to wait for the green light on the environmental permit they requested some time ago. The potential growth for the airport depends on the outcome of the NOx-saga. It's not as easy as you assume...

And your statement is just plain false. Most other (major) European airports look exactly like BRU, it is a often used design of the nineties. I've flown from AMS and MAD, both have the same feel as BRU in parts of their airport.
