Not sure how bad the damage is but had to think about that accident with that other B737 in Pakistan who blew up the bricks of the apron onto the fuselage and stabilizers ;)

But to be clear, let us hope for all the people and employees of Korongo and SN that the damage is not as such!!

Who's the idiot who designed that tarmac? Bricks on a tarmac? That's asking for trouble.
Thanks for sharing.

Why not just stop this project which imho was doomed to fail from the beginning : disastrous infrastucture, political situation, perhaps inadequate strategy from brussels airlines, too. Stop it now, I should say !
Does anyone know how much has been invested in this venture and what has been the return on investment ?

According to FR24, OO-LTM departed Kinshasa this morning, and is currently in Algiers. Probably on its way to Brussels...

So it look like it will keep flying.

Just a question which pop to my mind, why a stop in Algiers which is not a SN destination, so no contract with the handler. Why not having stopped in Malta for example.

But is SN Technics approved to carry out such work (ie capability list) on the B737's?
It's not exactly an A-check task. Sabena Aerospace and X-Air would have the capability though.

So their own maintenance department in FBM isn't capable to perform repairs? Wonder why they build the hangar their, just to change oil (as a figure of speech) and some tire kicking?

Sabena Aerospace will perform maintenance operations for ECAir in nearby Brazzaville. Maybe they are coming too late?

I don't know how familiar you are with aircraft maintenance, but there is a significant differance between normal scheduled maintenance and "normal" repairs vs major structural repairs.
Though I am sure the facility in itself probably is well suited for such work, I think the whole logistical side of it won't ad up. Much more convenient to get the aircraft to BRU where better facilities, engineering, logistics and manpower is readily available

FYI, Tec4jets, the maintenance organization from Jetairfly is providing maintenance in Brazzaville on their ECair aircraft (OO-JJI) since august and will continue to do so... Lufthansa technic takes care of the remaining aircraft from them but more will go to Tec4jets since it's the end of the contract. The sabena Aerospace story is not very clear yet but most likely for some checks over there instead of the regular line maintenance...

I'd second that. Half a commitment is no commitment. SN (and LH) should give it the means to do some serious and meaningful operation or pull out IMHO.

Guess that accident was the last drop in the bucket... Hopefully the former employees who moved
from B.air to Korongo will be able to get there spot back in Brussels. Bad news!

The local employees also deserve some attention. They are probably losing their jobs without a welfare safety net.

Too bad LH didn't invest in the project. The FBM base was a mistake from the get go that doomed this project before it started but it could havr worked out of FIH.
