Next time we get clear day like this goona take scope and family across to Pole Hill VOR :D

Hello,

10/03

Just watched for 10 minutes ( 17.50-18.00):

ThomsonFLY B737 G-FDZG PFO-CWL FL380
KLM B737 PH-BGE TIP-AMS
Ryanair B737-8AS EI-DCS TSF-STN
Ryanair B737-8AS EI-EFK TRS-STN
Ryanair B737-8AS EI-DAL LNZ-STN
Lufthansa B747-400 D-ABVX FRA-JFK

All these were flying on UL608

Found a new site with a radar maybe some of you already know him: www.flightradar24.com ( until yet I found no mistakes :) )

Greetings,
All my posted timings are local !

hi there

here are a few from monday was out all day and lost over 40 pictures to turbulances :( apologies for quality in advance  . Information from http://www.flightradar24.com

http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv81 ... _35522.jpg
BCY5052 EI-RJK Avro RJ85 CDG-EDI heading north on ul613

http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv81 ... _35162.jpg
THY5 TC-JDJ Airbus A340-311 IST-ORD heading west on uy70

http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv81 ... _34952.jpg
Flybe heading north on ul613 (not on radar)

http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv81 ... _34752.jpg
RYR6523 EI-DYT Boeing 737-8AS FMM-EDI heading north on ul613

http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv81 ... _34342.jpg
UAE9 A6-EKQ Airbus A330-243 NCL-DXB Heading South on ul613 and then banks east to uy70 (a regular around 1.30pm, very rare to see on contrail)

I think i need to take scope to high ground and take some shots with sun behind me shining on planes. Two places near me would be Pole Hill VOR to my West in between Halifax and Burnley for ul613 as most on this flight path fly into sun as seen from my garden or Garrowby Hill to my East the highest point of the Yorkshire wolds 13 miles East of York this would have sun behind me for flight route that flys Norhwest from Ottringham VOR in Hull (All Planes from Europe to Canada and USA)

all the best

Hi everyone,

The French ATC have been on strike recently, which means a lot of traffic has been routing my way instead (and may also explain DC10MD11s rare sightings). Many TAPs, LANs, TAMs, etc routing over southern England instead of France. However, no pictures due to overcast skies!! :(

Heres one pic taken through a small gap in the clouds - BAW2153 out of London Gatwick on route to the Carribean, climbing through FL290 with contrails:

Just before taking these images, two contrails flew over and it seemed like one was 200 yards behind the other and at roughly the same altitude. Is this possible? I didn't manage to photograph them.

Nice image, seeing improvements from you! it's hard to get a good picture when the sun isnt shining on the plane.

Tar mate, turned my focuser around so focus adjustment wheels were on the bottom and recollimated and was a vast improvement just wished i could've caught that Turkish Airlines A340 in focus a few days earlier

Hi all,

Although we are only 3 months in 2010 I already got THE highlight (so far :P )

I never thought I would catch this one. Yesterday at 08:30 this beauty crossed overhead, EIA 5102 - N780BC - B747-LCF From Prestwick (EGPK) to Taranto (LIBG), Italy at 39.000 ft.

Cheers,

Rob

Standard minimum vertical distance is 1000 ft and it's quite impossible to have a correct vision about it from the ground.

Really nice shot Rob, but its regi should be "N747BC".

Btw welcome to Mr. motard1 (gives it a clue of another passion.?.), hope so see more of you from Norway in the future.

Correction Skystef, currently Boeing has a fleet of 4 Dreamlifters:

N249BA - B747-409 (LCF) - c/n 24309
N718BA - B747-4H6 (LCF) - c/n 27042
N747BC - B747-4J6 (LCF) - c/n 25879
N780BA - B747-409 (LCF) - c/n 24310

With credit to Prestwick Airport Movements, http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/egpkpik/ flight EIA5102 departed Prestwick 18 March 06:38 L

Due to the hazy conditions that morning I'm still searching for tips to improve contrast so any suggestions are most welcome

Hi Rob, I'm aware that four frames are operational of which three already came to Europe.

You stated "N780BC" but this regi doesn't exist, so I assume you meant "N780BA".

Selcal wrote: With credit to Prestwick Airport Movements, http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/egpkpik/ flight EIA5102 departed Prestwick 18 March 06:38 L
When checking this page I see "N780BC B747-LCF dep 0638", however at that time not a single SBS user in the neighbourhood captured the transponder signal for this frame. On the other hand the transponder code for frame "N747BC" was indeed captured with c/s "EIA5102".

Normally there should be no confusion between the two airframes as both have a dedicated hex code: N747BC = AA0CA7 and N780BA = AA90A0. On March 18 hex code AA0CA7 was on the move, so it assumes "N747BC" being the one you saw.

Concerning the contrast: shuffle the contrast button at the edge of an acceptable image quality, then soften the grainy aspect by using a filter, for example found on free software "Neat Image".

You are right Skystef, my mistake. I owe you one

Sometimes you feel like a detective sorting all the information available on the net. 8-)

After checking http://www.openatc.com and doing a "Power Search" I found the answer:
