Visibility

Post by meerkat »

Is this a new record?

I looked at the weather box (left hand column) to check how wet I would get today!!! when I noticed that the visibility for Brussels today is 1850 KM.

As I am currently in a ninth floor apartment in Antwerpen I would expect to be able to see at least to Brussel!!! Just think - without any earth curvature we could see into Africa from here.

Seriously is there a glitch?

Indeed Meerkat this seems like a new record!

I was looking for a city with less good weather and found Buenos Aires:

https://www.aviation24.be/modules.php?name ... A0009&tp=C

Visibility 6 kms

I also checked Brussels METAR-TAF:

http://www.piloten.be/cgi-bin/meteo/wea ... rport=ebbr

Visibility 9999

On the website of www.msnbc.com it states that the visibility is unlimited maybe that's why it states 1850 kms.

I think we will have to live with this, 1850 kms is very unlimited...

Anyway Meerkat nice that you have noticed!

greetings,

Bart

Incidentally, 1852 km is 1000 nautical miles. So the 1850 km is perhaps the translation of 999 miles meaning unlimited :D , or not available :( .
