Biman A310 @ EBBR today

Post by Skystef »

Foggy conditions @ EGLL, and we were again lucky enough to receive this diversion S2-ADH on December 10. There was also an extra MS flight to EGLL, in form of SU-GAS. Both planes this evening still here waiting for the lifting of fog.
@ SN technics the Luxair B737-500 LX-LGO received the new jacket, like these colours.

Interesting to know

BTW Would it be possible to know in advance when the A310 of Biman will arrive at BRU. Cause they sometimes switch with the DC-10. I know it was a diversion this morning.

Avro,

Would be supprised if the would come to BRU very soon with the A310 as this flight continues to JFK .... taking into account ETOPS.

However ..... you never know.

I guess I was one of the lucky ones today! On my way home early for once, I was driving past 25L and had to stop to check out the A310 on approach - bit of a surprise to see it was Biman but pleased to make the frame.

Don't forget that BG really likes SN Technics, one of the reasons they keep on flying the DC10 to BRU.

Old planes do not necessarily mean significant decrease in safety.
They have SNTechnics for maintenance so that's really encouraging. I just hope they do all the repairs they have to do, but that counts for every company

The A310-300 is ETOPS certified, so no surprises...

Indeed old planes are not unsafer than new ones, if U fly (jumpseat) cargo planes within Africa, then and only then U should hold your horses.

Skystef: do you have any idea of the cargo schedules of tomorrow?

I'm especially interested in the departures...

I too would never fly BIMAN. I don't know if you remember an episode of ' het leven zoals het is' on TV1; SN tech saw a leak on the center landing gear, they reported it to the crew, and their first reaction was 'Only a leak' ... Now, after having seen that, I don't think I'll ever fly BIMAN, but I don't think I would've anyway

Their cabin interrior seems even older (like late sixties early seventies style):

Yes, Sabena flew 310 to BOS for many years, I believe they also flew their evening flight to JFK for a while and to Montreal.
Most 310 destinations were West Africa though...

That's correct .... but is Biman allready?
Don't forget you do not receive ETOPS on the spot ! ! !
Each cy has to go through a lot of engine test, engine liability, .....

Remember VG Airlines, the A330 aircraft previously operated by SABENA and ETOPS certificated, VG didn't received their ETOPS for quit some time. Normally (and if everything goes well), it takes up to min. 6 months before you get the qualification.
