Yesterday, a lot of aircraft were being guided around some hefty storm clouds. I caught these two which I dont normally see, unfortunately no contrail...

its not too hot up here either, it cant make its mind up today, its windy now and it clears space in the clouds and I think should I go and practice, then it clouds up again so I just look at the sbs1 and see whats up there and I'm cheesed off as its getting busy up there, a break in the clouds briefly shows a sky 737 and an air canada 767 converging over the irish sea. Great pix again, wish I could practice today.... :(

Hi all ! I have a question, i live under the arrival route BATTY-FLORA and OLNO-FLORA to Brussels Airport, the aircraft fly at approx 6000 to 8000ft above my house, can i post pictures in the contrail forum or do they really have to fly above FL100?
here is an example of a photo i made her a LOT 737-500 (reg SP-LKB) arriving from Warsaw

As told in the contrail rules, this level is rather arbitrary chosen. For me it's OK, as long I don't see any wheels coming down ;).

Btw great to see some familiar faces again is this section, so Gabor, James welcome again after the disaster of losing every single posting November 2007-July 2008. I too am not too happy about it, concering all the time I consumed in uploading some interesting pictorial stuff, comments, aids for the beginner, etc. But there is really nothing to do about it, just start it slowly all over again. I hope to see some other members returning like our Romanian "RATus", Italian "ilpavone2004", Belgian "Xavii", Polish "Endriu" and all the other which I have forgotten to list here. Of course also welcome to the newbies, waiting to see your results with or without scope. Hope to restart my pictorial contributions somewhere in September or October.

Correct, "cruising level" was a bit too warm to form a lot of contrails.

Yep, I guess I must have passed the mark of 1.000 contrail pics on my pc's library. The top selection is put online & found on my web http://www.skystef.be/contrail.htm

800mm is not bad, but what about your light & shutter speed?

Therefore I & some friends overhere switched to a scope with focal length 1200 or 1500mm, sometimes also with a 2x converter. Much more light available giving reasonable fast shutter speeds with iso set at 100 to 400.

I would say: post some of your stuff and the feedback will surely follow.

I know that "ilpavone2004" is at home with his scope, but he is currently without a computer as it is being fixed. So we should see a few shots coming from him soon when he gets his computer back.
But I'm sure we will see members returning as winter returns ;)

Ok thx for sharing DAT2135. Thats a nice begin, hope you see some real contrails in the future from you.
Don't forget to do some post processing with your pics: like brightening up, sharpening, anti-vignetting, etc. The pics will come out a bit better then.
