Problems for Jetairfly with Novair's A330

Post by Boeing767copilot »

What 's happening with JAF 208 this morning at BRU? A delay from five hours on the way back from Cancun/Varadero. Is this not a Novair AC? There are rumours that the AC had a birdstrike..... Somebody more news?

Accoring to the newspaper "Het Nieuwsblad", a bird hit the nose of the aircraft.

(DWM)

Short translation by sn26567: Another problem with a Jetair flight, this time in Mexico. 314 tourists stranded in Cancun, including 141 transit passengers from Varadero. Apparently a bird strike on the nose of the aircraft. Meanwhile 150 passengers are waiting in Brussels for the aircraft to arrive for their holidays.

And apparently Jetair has already found a replacement aircraft. According the Brussels Airport website, the flight to Punta Cana and Montego Bay will be flown by a Lockheed L-1011 TriStar. I guess that this will be the EuroAtlantic one?

For how long is the Luzair going to fly for Jetair? Is he just going to do this flight and the returnflight?

Thanks,
Robin

And the return from Cancun will be flown by a North American B757 performing CUN-BRU.

Hello Jafflyer,

Thanks for the information but is it the flight arriving this evening as JAF208 from Cancun? As on the site of brussels airprot it is still scheduled as an A330.

... with an intermediate stop in Lisbon. The plane departed with only a 3:30 hours delay, which shows that Jetair has handled the issue swiftly.

Could the "new" A330 (ex Air Madrid - future Brussels Airlines) not be used as a back-up?

It looks like a curse rests on the JAF-long haul routes.

Currently, the A330 Air Madrid is being modified to 'SN' standards...

Hello

O my god! This is very bad commercial for Jetair. Just now that it happens they operate another plane than TUC (from wich this kind of things might be expected...) they have another problem. It is although something that can happen with any kind of plane , just like the other time before. First a 'rabit strike' , now a 'bird strike' , what will be next? Too bad this just have to happen , I do also think JAF has handeled this problem very quick and good to my opinion. But it's just like fate is against JAF. Hope not to many people will leave JAF for what it is now. And the problem is the media , they make it all worse than it is.

Best regards: Yannick

Flight JAF208 From New York via Cancun is scheduled to arrive at BRU at 07:00 but is delayed till 09:10 tomorrow (08/03). As said earlier by JAFflyer, it will be a North American B757.

New York via Cancun? That's a very long way to go.....

Why don't Jetair invest in some aircraft that have not come from charter airlines? I think United have some 777s in the deasert.

Any brandnew, highly sophisticated aircraft can suffer a severe birdstrike.
