Run by Canadians.
I was told that Cubana Airlines are partly administered/serviced by a Canadian company who has more know-how and experience than Cubans.
Go to: http://www.cubana.cu/ for more info. They also have pictures and descriptions of their fleet.
Some info on the plane you might be flying:
http://www.avsim.com/pages/1198/il62/il62review.htm (seems like an old Russian plane: noisy, bumpy, not very comfortable, 3 * 3 seat configuration like on a 737 for example). Hope your on the Airbus instead.

It should be an A330. Retrieved from the OAG:

Indeed, they were flying to BRU, initially with an Il-62, later with a DC10. These were initially fortnightly flights (a rarity) before they became weekly. At periods, the flights continued to Moscow in the Soviet Union (to situate the time period).vflies wrote:Didn't they use to fly to BRU a few years ago?
What AC did they fly back then?

Dear flying cobra ,
In case your cubana airlines flight gets cancelled, you can still jump

Domestic flights in Cuba
On a recent trip to Cuba I was scheduled to take a Cubana domestic flight from Santiago de Cuba to Havana - and as half expected the sceduled service was cancelled and we ended up travelling a day earlier on an Antonov AN 26 from santiago to a little known [to me] airport of Playa de la baracoa about 35km from havana on an even less known airline Aerogaviota [which I believe is the charter arm of cubana].
It was my first encounter with the An26 and whilst not the most sophisticated of aeroplanes, and with a shortage of windows for passengers to lookn out of, it was surprisingly comfortable and not too noisy.
Despite the flight being at 1 am [2 hours late] the stewardess provided the 16 passengers with an in flight drink and boiled sweets [you don't get those much any more] and did a bi-lingual safety announcement without the assistance of any microphone. Ten out of ten to the stewardess and the crew - not quite so many points to Cubana for messing about with my holiday!
