British Airways Concorde

Post by 777 »

  • One mustn't forget that the British Airways Concordes
    are still flying.

The last sheduled flight to JFK is planned for the 23rd October.

A superb aircraft in its day, but its day is now gone, and we should let it retire gracefully rather than keep it flying indefinitely.

Last Concorde lands at Dulles, 10/14/03

Post by SN30952 »

For the last time, a sleek white Concorde slid through the skies over the suburbs of the nation's capital Tuesday 10/14/03.
The supersonic plane was greeted with a water cannon salute when it landed at Washington Dulles International Airport as part of a British Airways farewell tour.

There is a big tour by the BA Concorde around UK airports this month.

Huge crowds are expected at Heathrow at the end of the month when the aircraft touches down for the final time.

I went to Heathrow 4 weaks ago to see it. It was the first, and probably last time I will have seen it flying. Such a grace...
Another reason why we don't like the Americans! They killed the aircraft!

What a bullshit you are screaming there, this should be :censored:
You have to thank it to the French and the British, if BA should sell them to Branson and those idiot French should keep on doing the maintenance you would see it flying for years more, don't blame the US they have nothing to do with it :fight:

  • Sorry A318, but exactly the french Concordes were badly maintained.

The british Concordes have the double number of flying hours
and have had the least problems.
But they had excelent maintenance, typical british.

The end of the Concorde is not due the Americans, but simply
because it had been designed and first manufactured before
    the first oli-crisis.
It's consumption is too high and makes too much noise.
Also the number of pax/load is too low to make profitable
    at actual petrol prices.
    Simultaneously they are getting old.
