SN aircraft made emergency landing in Gothenburg (GOT)

Post by EB-Air »

just saw on the VTM-news that an SN-aircraft made an emergency landing in GOT.

On A.net there is an message about an RJ85, and that the nose wheel collapsed during landing, but no injuries...

Any more information? Which aircraft? Damage?

Regards,
Ben

PS: I didn't found a post about this, although it must have happened some hours ago...[/url]

I'll give it a try:

plane was on is his way to brussels but there was a problem with the front gear. It happened just before 21.30. Plane stayed in the air for a short time. The gear was unable to hold the weight and collapsed. No casualties and the passengers were bussed away.

Hopefully the aircraft will not be stuck at GOT that long.
Perhaps the aircraft can return sooner to BRU as an empty ferry flight.

They can hold the plane at least for two days or so (28 pax + 28 pax +28pax), maybe then they will fly back FULL to BRU for once.

A nice report in English from a Swedish newspaper:

Plane in dramatic emergency landing

Published: 11th March 2006 11:23 CET

A Belgian passenger plane made an emergency landing at Gothenburg's Landvetter airport on Friday evening.

Sparks were seen coming from the front landing gear of the aircraft, and passengers were evacuated on slides.

The Avro RJ85 plane, which belongs to SN Brussels Airlines, formerly Sabena, had 22 passengers and four crew on board, according to a spokesperson at Landvetter. It had capacity for 80 passengers.

Nobody was injured during the evacuation, and the plane did not catch fire.

When the plane landed it became clear that the front wheel could not be retracted because they were turned sideways. The sparks seen on landing came most likely from the landing gear.
reminds me of another recent incident with a slightly larger plane in LAX...

anyway it's good to hear that everyone is ok!

Already the second time that this happens with DJN.
First time during pushback, don't remember the year.

Some luchtzak.be history:

Post subject: similar BRU incident

Back in 1998, a similar incident happened at BRU, the nose gear of an aircraft collapsed during push-back. The aircraft involved was Sabena/dat Avro RJ85 OO-DJN. There were about 70 passengers on board of the TLS bounded plane and nobody got injured. The airplane was only light damaged because the fall of the airplane was broken by the weel.

Only 28 pax on that flight?????
The loadfactor's very bad.
Is it usual on that destination or the week-end is the reason?

Thanks.

It's not because they had two emergencies in a short period of time that the planes aren't reliable.

Can someone give us the dispatch reliability of the Avro RJ fleet of SN ? And if possible also an average dispatch reliability of that type of aircraft all over the world ?

Thanks
Chris
