I guess flying business is always great, personally I had the chance a few times to fly Delta Business Elite for free.

The airline has always been good to me, and that is why I am flying them in a few weeks to San Diego.

But to be honest Delta's intercontinental economy product isn't so great, the last years service has gone down even more.

No personalized entertainment system, old ass AC's, price for an alcoholic beverage is going up from $4.00 to $ 5.00 from April 3, 2005  .

And on US flights you have pick one item from a basket, and what a choice do you have ! 8O :

Oreo® cookies
Pepperidge Farm® Distinctive Hearty Wheat Crackers
La Petite Fromage
Sun·Maid® Raisins

For flights more than 3.5 hours an extra snack, look at this great choice 8O :

Sun Chips® Multigrain Snacks
Quaker® Chocolate Chip Chewy Granola Bar
Kings™ Honey Roasted Peanuts
Old Colony® Big Top™ Animal Crackers
Lance® Swiss on Wheat Crackers

Delta goes Ryanair

Hello,
Sorry for this very big delay but I will post my ATL-EWR-AMS segment now

I got up at 5:30 and packed,ate,….
To leave at 8:30 to ATL where we got there 1,5 hrs later
We went thru the curbside check in at the South Terminal then we joined this huge security line
Our BP was marked with SSSS so we had to go thru extra security by 10:50 we where cleared and spotted in the T-terminal where I could find

N111DN DL B763

Then I went to the E-Councourse to see the SA A346 but I missed it but I could see some 763ER’s
N152DL
N172DN
N176DN
N861DA (B772) going to MCO

Thereafter I ran back to the B-Concourse and to Gate B3 where our AC N910DE had arrived out of MEM besides us where a B752 (N690DL) bound to BOS

We where in Zone 5 and at 11:30 boarding began

TU 5/4/2005
Airline+flight#: Delta 680
Type+Registration: MD 88 N910DE
Cabin+seat: Economy Class 20E Window,Economy Class 18A Window,
From: Atlanta B3 12:00 GMT-5 26L KATL/ATL
To: Newark B46 14:13 GMT-5 22R KEWR/EWR
Pushback: 12:02
Start Taxi: 12:06
Takeoff : 12:10
Landed: 14:03
At Gate: 14:13
CPT: MR Davis (NYC based)
Purser: MR …….. (NYC based)
Load factor in Economy Class: 75%
Flight Time: 2hrs 11mins (791 miles/1274km)
Slept: 0hrs 0mins

We boarded at 11:45
After the plane filled up I noticed 18ABC where untaken
So I sat there Pushback was on time

While taxing I saw
N3737L
N947DE
N966AT
N914DL
N712DE
N167AT
N195AT
N937AT
N161DL
N175DN
N642AS
N957DE
We where 3rd in line for takeoff and a few minutes later we blasted down 26R
After takeoff we made a 180 degree turn and climbed to FL 330
Our route was leaving ATL thru Spartanburg,SC up to Charlotte,Raleigh above Richmond, heading towards Washington just West of PHL where we started our decent into EWR
http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gc?PATH=ATL- ... &MAP-STYLE map of our route

soon the F/A’s passed snacks out
Sun Chips® Multigrain Snacks
Quaker® Chocolate Chip Chewy Granola Bar
Kings™ Honey Roasted Peanuts
Old Colony® Big Top™ Animal Crackers
Lance® Swiss on Wheat Crackers
This flight is only 2 hrs but since this plane came out of MEM earlier they had these
I chose the animal crackers after that they returned with another round of snacks
Because I flew BRU-AMS-ATL and EWR-AMS as UM I had it on this segment so I told the purser that this is not valid today
Our A/C N910DE had the new interior which was nice
Then I asked for some transport info for NY wich the F/A’s gladly gave after that I chatted with the F/A’s

Soon the Seat belt sign plinged on and we started our Approach past the Manhatten Skyline touched down on-time
On this plane you could use your cell phone after landing here and after that announcement everybody did this arrived at gate B 46
While taxing I saw
PH-BZK “Zeelandbrug” New C/S
N370WL
N904DE
EI-DBL

After arrival i took a cockpit pic and got my bags at 14:45 we left and around 15:15 we arrived in the Hotel (Helmsley in)(42nd Street between 2nd and 3rd Ave)
After a very nice stay in NY I woke up at 6:30 we ate and started packing my bag broke
So at 10:00 we looked everywhere for a good bag (I wanted it to last for at least two years) near Rockefeller Plaza we found a good one at 12:00 we ate at the Restaurant call Markt (14th Street,8th Avenue) this is a Belgian restaurant (I could not wait 24 more hours for the real Belgain food  )
At 14:00 I got my bags and we went to the Penn Station to take the 14:34 train to EWR after the stops in Newark Penn and somewhere else we deboarded and took the skytrain to Terminal B on our way I could see the CO PM B772
Others I saw where
N76055 CO B762
N78060 CO B762
N67152 CO B753
N58544 CO ……
G-VIIN BA 777
And my KL tail for tonight (Old C/s again) and reg (confused if it was PH-BZD “King Hussein Bridge” or PH-BZO “Karmsund Bridge”) then we walked to the NW counter where check-in just opened by now it is 15:30

The supervisor checked us in was ok, but the other agents only said “next” and “it’s Gate B42 be there at 17:15 “
After that we went to security and then stayed stuck in B1 I saw

N3744F DL B738
D-ABVS “Saarland” LH B744
N967DL DL MD80
PH-BZO KL B763 “Karmsund Bridge”
N324NW NW A320
F-GLZG AF A343
N918DL DL M80

As time passed it became 17:15 when some staff came to gate B42 and yelled to us
“you stay right there sir” soon the crew boarded and 15 mins later they checked me again
On this flight there was another person putting 3 UM’s on the plane so the rude NW staff yelled to the other person “Stay right here until the plane takes off” then looked at my dad and said “you to sir” and at 17:45 boarding started for AMS

FR 8/4/2005
Airline+flight#: KLM 658/Northwest 8658

CPT: MR Alga
Purser: MS Monique ……..
Load factor in WBC: 95%
Flight Time: 7hrs 03mins (3684 miles/5929km)
Slept: 5hrs 30mins

Once onboard the F/A showed me 4C and asked if they could take my jacked I said “no thanx”
After the boarding was done the flight time was announced 6h20mins, this was my shortest transatlantic leg
Thereafter the door closed but then the NW supervisor yelled something and the jettyway attached again
Some technician was still onboard so we offloaded him and the pushbacked

At this time PH-BZG “Erasmus-Bridge” operated KL 622 from ATL and diverted in EWR
I did not see it

After a short taxi we joined a queue of 14 planes
N907DL DL M80
C-FJTS AC ……
N68155 CO 762
N635NW NW DC9
N834UA UA A319

N12160 CO ERJ
N73251 CO B738
N69154 CO B762
N628AW HP 320

Finally after 45mins. We lifted off and climbed to FL 350
Routing was from EWR to BOS,Gander up across the Atlantic arriving in Shannon, thereafter to MAN,the North Sea and our descent into AMS
Routing: http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gc?PATH=EWR- ... MAP-STYLE=

Over the Video/Audio/Menu I cannot give any info (lost it)
I talked to the Puser ans went to my seat
When my dinner choice was taken I answered that I was going to sleep i.o. eat
At 1:45AMS time I reclined my seat
I woke up at 5:15 AMS time (1hr before breakfast) and talked to an FA,used the bathroom and returned to my seat at 5:45 AMS time I fell asleep

I woke up at 6:50 AMS time
I looked at m watch and noticed I slept thru Breakfast I went to the Galley
FA: (laughing) are you finally awake,I just tried everything to wake you up
Me: Really
FA: I sure did I shook you like crazy and even made noise with this box, ill be there with you’re tray

And a min later my tray arrived and our descent started
Landing was an half an hour later
And we taxied past the plane that flew me to ATL (BZB) and a few KL 737s
Beside us was N805NW

The F/A assisted me to the arrivals hall (discussed the flight) and told her I really love KL

My neighbours and I left the Airport at 8:20 and where home at 10:40

I know KLs 763s are not the best, but still are survivable and the crew makes up al

Your report made a great read.

Great to see KLM crews still as friendly as ever.

It is the best company I've worked for as a Flight coordinator. I wish I can work again for them in the future.
