Alitalia saved by the Government and reborn as ITA Airways

Re: Alitalia near bankruptcy. Will it be saved by Etihad?
The Alitalia commissioners named by the Government are asked to draw up a programme and start looking at expressions of interest for the carrier’s sale within 15 days. The clock is ticking: everything must be concluded within 6 months!

They got to go fast now... as one can guess that ticket sales will decline rapidly otherwise...
Re: Alitalia near bankruptcy. Will it be saved by Etihad?
Hello every one,
after being inactive on the forum for quite some time, I blink my eyes about... Alitalia.
I am pretty sure that years ago I was a strong fan to close down that "company" as soon as possible.
Just to read now that it is still acting as an embarrasment for the aviation world.
The excuse to give this Dracula a new 600 M € infusion is:
-people would get stranded with useless tickets
-damaging the reputation of Italy
-bad for tourism.
-If this company would have been put to rest years ago, how many people would not have suffered the experience of flying Alitalia?
-Alitalia is damaging the reputation of Italy by itself.
-tourism would flourish if this mummy disappears.
PS: I kept my promise never to fly this airline again.

Re: Alitalia near bankruptcy. Will it be saved by Etihad?
I read somewhere that the total debt of Alitalia is 3.000.000.000 € ....

After the demise of Sabena, a lot of airlines started or increased flights to/from BRU to fill the void, but not Ryanair which was a poor regional airline at the time. And most airlines receded shortly thereafter, since newly created SN Brussels Airlines was the best solution to fill the voids.

Re: Alitalia near bankruptcy. Will it be saved by Etihad?
Alitalia lost 200m EUR during the first quarter 2017, vs 500m for the whole year 2016. From bad to worse!
The 3 administrators named by the Italian government will now try to re-negotiate unfavourable contracts relating to fuel supply, currency exchange risks and aircraft leasing. But I doubt this will be sufficient to save the company.

In any case, Alitalia will not be saved by AF-KLM. Air France KLM ruled out stepping in to save near-bankrupt Alitalia, with CEO Jean-Marc Janaillac saying past experience of cross-shareholdings and a failed merger plan would discourage his carrier from investing directly in Italy again.

Good luck! Why on earth would any supplier accept to grant better terms? If anything, they will request advance payments for everything they supply!

But just before declaring bankruptcy last month, it opened a beautiful new lounge at Milan's Malpensa airport - and it's great

Euh,...
Bankruptcy ? When has they said this ?
They only gave the possibility of a bankruptcy !
Flights and bookings are no problem for at least 5 months and they even had a birthday 70! Party lol,...
Europeans won't understood this but this is Italia !
Lol
Alitalia is like quantummechanics ! Not all laws apply to them so it seems lol
Would be so much easier if they did ! Lol
Dark clouds yes but not An a big hole for now :p

They are re-launching Delhi and starting seasonal flights to Maldives, while Los Angeles goes year round.
Re: Alitalia near bankruptcy. Will it be saved by Etihad?
Alitalia entered a procedure which is ment for companies that aren't able to pay their creditors and that prohibits creditors them from collecting their payment. It's not a stretch to call that bankruptcy!cathay belgium wrote: ↑17 May 2017, 21:15Bankruptcy ? When has they said this ?

Re: Alitalia near bankruptcy. Can it be saved?
Hi,
Respect for still trying, no ?
But won't see AZ as the phoenix AA is now
I'm not blind and I'm predicting the demise of AZ for years now, this fact proves me in my believe we won't miss AZ that soon as many other will/hope...
If AZ will fall one of the reasons is the italian government, a little more TRUMP-ness could have helped..
Don't see letting EMIRATES start up an AMS-JFK,an CDG-JFK,an LHR-JFK,an FRA-JFK... but there is a MXP-JFK.
This is giving the cream from the pie away to a foreign bastard IMO... also the unions play a wrong dreal here, but can't you forgive them, this problems had to deal with decades ago instead of closing the eyes and just keep funding !
Not the end... yet

Doing nothing now will lead always to an end !

The balance sheet AZ: million euros loss. I do not remember the crazy number that was mentioned here. I have nothing against Alitalia, I am sad for its employees, but can we continue to dig ... indefinitely ? With public money ?
