Many People are in the clouds about airbus the A380 in addition to the A330/340, but I can't get over the DISRESPECT airbus is showing towards its own History.
First prototype ever broken-up in 1974 and the second ever A300B1 broken-up at EBBR in 2003. It is a real SHAME.

Contrarily Boeing is setting a real example to the world of how one should RESPECT aviation with their Museum.

Here some pics of Airbus history:

Lien,

Doesn't this say more about Belgian (BIAC, ...) respect for aviation? And what to think about the hundreds of airbus and boeings in the desserts of the US (hardly used). There was a good posting about this topic on airliners.net (but can find it back) anymore ... It was stated that they drop all these planes for purely economical reasons ...

I think Lien means the relation Airbus towards its prototypes, not production planes.
The OO-TEF was a prototype, but TEA insisted on having the plane as it was faster to deliver(I think).

Lien,

I am afraid nostalgia does not count here, just big money.

Boeing doesn't seem to think so. And you are also forgetting the actual Concorde story.

Wow, we are getting an anti-Airbus sentiment over here...

777: as asked in other posts, can you please explain what you think about EK and the A380?

I think I know what you mean... Something which is very popular under the pro-Boeing anti-Airbus crowd, but I would like to hear it from you first...

Before it is asked: I'm more for Boeing than for Airbus, but certainly not in the extremes.

Following my experience I think they got a longterm nasty plan in mind.
Soo many planes in such short time is just soo mysterious.
I mean it in the objective context.

I don't know if you agree on it , but it smells very suspicious.

As Sabena_690 correctly stated, an anti-Airbus mood is developping in these columns.

This anti-Airbus crowd shoud think twice: Airbus provides many more jobs in Europe, and particularly in Belgium, than Boeing does.

I hope for you that your job does not depend on Airbus orders...

Hi sn26567,

You mean the strikes at SABCA ?

Indeed, among others. Some at SABCA have already lost their jobs. SABCA supplies to Airbus, not to Boeing.

I cannot see the reasoning behind "anti Airbus and pro Boeing". I think that both manufacturers build fine aircraft, and the competition between the companies is healthy I would have thought.

With Boeing, many jobs have been provided in Britain because of the common use of the Rolls Royce engine. On the other hand, Airbus have provided jobs with the wing manufacture by British Aerospace. But yes, if you are looking at the biggest provider of jobs in Europe as a whole, then you cannot argue that Airbus is the superior one in that respect.
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

I think, Airbus beeing european that's nothing exceptional.

Rather the opposite would be surprising.

Or will they move production to Asia ?
