KC-135 & Afriqiyah Airways

Post by Skystef »

This evening (August 14) a nice re-engined KC-135 of USAF was parked @ Abelag. C/n 18135 (a very old one), registration 60-0360. Sorry no pics found on internet, but my day is good as i saw it 8) .

To be watched 8O : Afriqiyah Airways "could use" an A310-200 on its service to BRU on 15/16 of August. Check the web for latest info.

Skystef,

thanks for that information about the US Airforce, in fact I saw it today and thought it was a B707... But now I have the correct information!

ciao,

In fact the B707 is the civil version of the series C-135, KC-135,VC-135,....and many of the 135's have been delivred before the first civil version flew its first passenger flight (in 1958).
The KC-135,...was sometimes also mentioned(rarely) as a 717(yes a 717).The prototype dash 80 resembles more the C-135 than the 707.

That's right, Skystef. The flight makes an intermediate stop in CDG (flight 8U 900 to CDG is merged with flight 8U 920 to BRU), and to accommodate these additional passengers, a larger plane than the usual B737-400 is used.

But eta 00:30 on 16/8 is not ideal for spotters!

Translation to BIVA: run to 25R on August 16 @ 1035 in morning, & spot/photograph/film an Airbus A310-200 departing for Afriqiyah Airways.
Will be happy to hear a report from U.
