Re: Air Belgium in 2023
Saw a headline on CH-Aviation that AB was stopping flights out of CRL but article only available to members...
Are they moving the FDF/PTP ops to BRU?
Kind of would make sense to operate all flights out of 1 airport...

Re: Air Belgium in 2023
Antilles are actually completely scrapped, which means there are no destinations left at CRL. Overall, the network now only consists of MRU, CPT and JNB from BRU.JustPlanes wrote: ↑12 Mar 2023, 21:38 Saw a headline on CH-Aviation that AB was stopping flights out of CRL but article only available to members...

Thank you for the response!

During the state visit to South Africa, Air Belgium announced new routes this fall to US and 'an' Asian country. Not clear whether this will be from CRL or BRU.
Nicky Terzakis also said new money will be needed to get more planes and expand the network. At the moment, most of the revenue is because of cargo.

He also said that the airline needs again money for their development plans.
Not sure yet however concerning the Antilles, if they'll come back from Winter 23-24.

As from tomorrow, 5th April, Air Belgium/Hongyuan will operate a weekly cargo flight from LGG to Chengdu with their A330F
Re: Air Belgium in 2023
I guess AB will now focus on BRU for pax service. Much easier and logical.brabel wrote: ↑25 Mar 2023, 14:15 During the state visit to South Africa, Air Belgium announced new routes this fall to US and 'an' Asian country. Not clear whether this will be from CRL or BRU.

Re: Air Belgium in 2023
I know it's not that simple (KF is not a network Airline) but could't KF/SN/LH unify their (African) network in BRU ? Just as a win-win situation ?
Cheers
Re: Air Belgium in 2023
I hope, on the contrary, that AB will develop more and more flights from CLR.Conti764 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2023, 09:53I guess AB will now focus on BRU for pax service. That was the initial deal with the Walloon region.
Avoiding BRU is a good thing as a passenger.

Re: Air Belgium in 2023
The agreement with AIRLINK for many local connections in RSA and neighbouring countries is certainly a success.
So, more weekly flights to JNB and CPT are a possibility; and separating the flights-making both destinations non-stop- would be the way to go.
Similar agreements with local airlines will be necessary if they fly to USA and Thailand (BKK).;
A possible destination would be DENVER: a huge airport now with connections to all important airports on West Coast + in MidWest.
Agreement with FRONTIER Airlines would offer top opportunities.
I hope AB comes with some good news soon.
Re: Air Belgium in 2023
Besides, any such arrangement would benefit KF much more as SN already has wide use of a similar network thru the LH group and the Star Alliance. LH would never accept that.travellover wrote: ↑06 Apr 2023, 21:07 I know it's not that simple (KF is not a network Airline) but could't KF/SN/LH unify their (African) network in BRU ? I don't think BRU is the worst ever. It's okay, I guess. Who cares, you're there because you're going on holiday, right ? May as well be in a cheerful mood, then.PttU wrote: ↑07 Apr 2023, 22:41In a nutshell... fly from ANR?
Or maybe OST... But in all honesty: BRU isn't that bad: for Belgian travellers it's situated centrally, and the time lost travelling to another airport doesn't outweigh the cons of BRU.
CRL on the other hand ... What a disaster ! Still, if the price is right, I'd fly from CRL in a heartbeat.
