TUI fly Belgium in 2020

Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2020
Whilst Lufthansa seems to have secured the necessary funds to survive the Corona pandemic, things are getting worse for TUI AG (TUIfly Belgiums’ parent company).
Handelsblatt reported on Wednesday (20/05) that Moody’s has lowered the TUI AG rating with two levels (and TUI AG was already “speculative” before hell broke loose). Moody’s expects that the 1,8 Billion German state aid won’t be enough. Rumours that TUI has asked another 1,5 Billion state aid are denied by TUI’s head office Hannover. “TUI’s CEO Fritz Joussen is under high pressure”, Handelsblatt reports.

Yahoo Finance (U.K.) reported on 17th May that Citibank (UK) expects that an urgent capital raise of £500M (by the shareholders) is needed.
https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/coron ... 01684.html
Frightening outlook for both TUI Belgium and TUIfly Belgium, who had parked their funds at the TUI AG cashpool in Germany. A few weeks ago, the Belgian press reported that TUI asked for 200M EUR Belgian state aid. Has that amount been raised afterwards? Any news on that?

Here is some additional info on this flight including pics. The corona crisis sometimes provides for extraordinary itineraries due to the shortage of cargo aircraft.

TUI and Boeing finally reach a comprehensive agreement to resolve the MAX grounding impact. No exact figures mentioned as it's confidential but here are some highlights.
- Large part of the financial impact incurred will be compensated over the next two years
- New agreement on the delivery schedule allows more flexible fleet planning in times of the pandemic
- New deliveries are postponed by an average of two years (also reduced to 61 iso 70-ish initially ordered)
- Reduced investments in aircraft and reduced financing requirements for TUI for the coming years
- Agreement strengthens liquidity of TUI Group

A few Flemish newspapers report that TUI now accepts new bookings, but cancels them a few days later “because of corona”. One TUI-client reports that he booked on 6th June for travel from Ostend to Murcia on 7th July, and he paid a 650 €. Just three days later, TUI cancelled the flight, but refused to refund the 650 €. He will now receive a corona voucher, valid for a refund in June 2021. The hotel and rental car that he had booked and paid between booking and cancellation, is now probably lost.

Minister Muylle (federal government, minister of Consumer Affairs) is not amused. She now asks the Economical Inspection to open an investigation into those practices.

This practices are not nice. I still wonder why Muylle & Crevits & other village-politicians react extremely fast when airlines or entrepreneurs make mistakes or take advantage (willingly or not) of confusing situation.
But not a single minister sees the GIANT TAX EVASION of the big corporations (Starbucks, Amazon, Shell, Google..) .
Billions of EUR disappear to Tax Heavens every year, but this politicians rather shoot with big guns at smaller local companies.
Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2020
Of course minister Muylle reacts sharply. She has set up the system of corona vouchers on request of the travel trade, though the system contradicted with the European travel package directive.
TUI (the touroperator) is the one who benefits the most from Muylle's Ministerieel Besluit / Arrêté Ministériel. And TUIfly (the airline) also gives coronavouchers for cancelled flights, though there is no legal ground for that. And then suddenly, minister Muylle is confronted with media reports about misleading practices of that tailor-made legislation by TUI. Given Muylle's previous efforts to save TUI from bankruptcy, she must have felt very pissed off (in Dutch, we have an expression “het mes in de rug krijgen”).

TUIfly's German trade union Vereinigung Cockpit asks the Board to reject the rescue plan:
Do they (= Vereinigung Cockpit) really think that Management likes it that there will be a massive jobs cut?https://www.vcockpit.de/presse/pressemi ... oppen.html
"...Die Vereinigung Cockpit fordert den TUI-Aufsichtsrat auf, gegen die vom Vorstand geplante Halbierung der Flotte und den damit einhergehenden Stellenabbau zu stimmen. Der gesellschaftliche Konsens, dass Staatshilfen zur Sicherung und nicht zum Abbau von Arbeitsplätzen verwendet werden, gilt auch für TUI..." Translated via Google Translate: The Cockpit Association calls on the TUI Supervisory Board to vote against the halving of the fleet planned by the Management Board and the associated job cuts. The social consensus that state aid is used to safeguard and not to cut jobs also applies to TUI.
Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2020
There is much more in the TUI plan: the 5 airlines will be merged under a single company based in Hanover. Bye bye TUIfly Belgium?

Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2020
Sure, TUI will still have bases in Belgium, but there will be more integration into Hanover. That's what TUI fly Germany Managing Director Oliver Lackmann said yesterday: "In addition, central functions are to be more closely integrated across all five Group airlines. In a first step, TUI's European airlines will be merged under one company. This central flight division for TUI Group airlines will be based in Hanover."

Just to be sure, I contacted the TUI Belgium PR department, which itself consulted the German headquarters which gave the following reply:
"We can confirm that we are planning to move all airlines within one entity based in Germany. This does not affect the local structure with independent airlines serving their home markets as they do already."

Condor would be better inside TUI fly Germany under one unique name.
