From Pagtour (yesterday):

Re: 2019 Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL/EBCI) latest news
In brief: local government appoints new "president" (CEO?) at airport management company; said person has a past in one trade union but many (most?) people working at the airport belong to another union. His linguistical capacities are also questioned: he should have good Italian and French, but no English and no Dutch. Questionable, indeed.
Perhaps we should explain that the Charleroi region, an old mining area, counts many people of Italian origin; their grandfathers worked in the mines and steelworks, today they often run garages or pizzerias. Those with long memories might remember the Marcinelle mine disaster in the 1950's. This Mister Di Santo might well fit that general pattern.
He certainly was not selected for his expertise in commercial air transport.

What a sad image of the region, again
My messages reflect my personal opinion which may be different than yours. I beleive a forum is made to create a debate so I encourage people to express themselves, the way they want, with the ideas they want. I expect the same understanding in return.
Re: 2019 Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL/EBCI) latest news
The CEO is the very knowledgeable Philippe Verdonck, who has a long experience in aviation. This new guy Di Santo is the (future?) Chairman of the Board, a board of which Philippe Verdonck is not a member due to a regional decree against conflicts of interest and plurality...jan_olieslagers wrote: ↑26 Nov 2019, 12:52 In brief: local government appoints new "president" (CEO?) at airport management company
Luckily, the day-to-day operation of the airport remains in good hands!

The Chairman of the board is not running the day to day. Perhaps only to take money !
