Why is that that Belgian airports very rarely serve my needs?
Glasgow - no service from Belgium during winter (in summer only from Charleroi).
Aberdeen - no service at all.
Inverness - no service at all.
Stavanger - no service at all.
Bristol - an absolute rip off.
For all the destinations I have to travel to Schiphol. I think that it would do everyone a favour if a better train service were installed that reached Schiphol in time to catch the first flights and close Zaventum altogether. The first Thaly from Belgium arrives at Schiphol too late for many first flights.

Because routes from Belgian airports (or any airport for that matter) are launched according to demand. Airlines would go bankrupt very fast if they opened routes to destinations with little demand.Paul Riordan wrote: ↑14 Oct 2018, 14:35 Why is that that Belgian airports very rarely serve my needs?
A recent example that might have been of interest to you is VLM's route from Antwerp to Aberdeen. VLM seems to have been a specialist of those little-travelled routes. It is now out of business.
By concentrating traffic to those small destinations in one hub, e.g. Amsterdam, one can eventually reach the break-even point.

The first Thalys arrives at 10:24 at Schiphol, but there are earlier trains: IC-trains, arriving as early as 8:21
And for example Stavanger: there's no service there form CDG, FRA, MUC,... it's a real small market, and you might be rather lucky to get there rather easily through AMS.
Isn't Bristol served from Brussels by BMI?
