Looking for realistic airports

Post by teddybAIR »

Hi there

since my latest post I have been adding a lot of AI traffic to my fs2004 and I must say: it really brings my sim to life! I recommend it to everybody! Have a look at http://www.projectai.com it's worth it!
But I have another question
The airports in fs2004 are fairly good but not that realistic. Does anybody know how I can add realistic European airports too my flightsim? It would be great if they would be compatible with the AI traffic!!!

Have lot's of sim-fun!!!

hi,

for belgium, visit http://www.fscb.be. EBBR is delicious!

For other airports, u can saerch at http://www.avsim.com or http://www.flightsim.com. Many many freeware airports there, one already better then another. You might also wanna search using google.
There are also very good payware scenery's (such as simflight, simwings, lago ...).

About compatibility to AI, thats very easy to be done. You need a program called AFCAD2, and then you need to look on the net for an afcad-file for the specific airport (vb EBBR); however the afcad is often already includes in the scenery you download.

you can find all about afcad also on www.projectai.com

you find the afcads by searching the net, the sites mentioned in my first post, and projectai

the scenery is installed in the scenery folder of FS9, but make a subfolder with the name of the scenery (for exemple FS9\scenery\EBBR)
In FS u then have to load the scenery in the library (u will find this option somewhere in the menus in the top of the FS screen (dont know the exact name or place)).

Afcad files can be imported using the AFCAD program, or copied to the correct folder (dont know the exact name, look at projectai for more help on this)

I found the good version of ebbr on www.fscb.be but i don't know how to import it in my fs...just unzip it to my scenery files? Because the AFCAD doesn't work with that file i think...
