Air France unions leading a strike on 11 April 2018 over wage demands agreed to meet management for further negotiations after the airline improved its salary offer. There is a slight hope that the next strikes will be cancelled?

Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2018
Poland's flagship carrier LOT said Friday it had obtained a court injunction blocking an indefinite strike that unions announced for Monday over pay demands.
Wait a minute!
1. Polish courts have lost their independence and are more or less controlled by the Government.
2. LOT is also controlled by the Government.
3. Draw your own conclusions with regard to the constitutional right to strike...

Back to the days of Solidarnoscz (sp?)! Lech Walesa where are you?
Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2018
If you plan to come to Brussels Airport (or Ostend-Bruges or Antwerp) on a bus of De Lijn, watch out: the socialist and liberal unions announce a 4-days strike at De Lijn from 17 to 20 May.

Brussels Airlines just wrote over Facebook:
"We regret that, despite a substantial offer made by the Brussels Airlines management, the pilot union delegation has called for strike actions as of May 11th. Between today and May 11th, negotiations between the Brussels Airlines management and the union delegations continue to take place. In case of strike actions as of May 11th, our flight schedule will unfortunately be affected, but at this moment in time we do not yet have a full view on the impact. We are working on creating a reduced flight schedule for that day and will update our website with more information as soon as possible:
https://www.brusselsairlines.com/en-be/ ... ssage.aspx
If you have a flight reservation for 11th May, we will update you as soon as possible about the status of your flight.
Therefore, we please ask you to make sure that you have given us your contact details during the booking process. If not, we urge you to add your contact details in the Manage My Booking tool.
We sincerely regret the impact that possible strike actions may cause.
Rest assured that everyone at Brussels Airlines is committed to limiting the impact of possible strike actions and to finding solutions for everyone whose travel plans may be affected."

Tomorrow, 16 May, there will not only be a pilot strike at Brussels Airlines, there will also be problems to reach Brussels Airport.
On 16 May, the unions are holding a national demonstration in Brussels. Public bus services by De Lijn and TEC may be affected. Brussels Airport advises passengers to look for alternative means of transport or leave for the airport well ahead of their departure time.
Trains should be running, though.

Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2018
There are so many strikes in France that people don't even notice anymore. But tonight there is a strike of ATCos, together with other public servants.
Airlines serving Paris Orly, Lyon and Marseille airports have already been told to cut one in five flights.
Hundreds of flights are cancelled Tuesday. And that strike is set to continue until Wednesday morning!
Don't say that we didn't warn you...

Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2018
Not that long ago, a Dutch court has convicted an airline to indemnify passengers as per 261/2004 because of such ATC notice "please cut one in five flights". That's no extraordinary circumstance, the Dutch judge ruled: airlines must try to operate all flights, and only when ATC orders them to cancel a particular flight, they can avoid the penalty.sn26567 wrote: ↑21 May 2018, 17:10 There are so many strikes in France that people don't even notice anymore. ATC unions are aware of that court verdict. But because the aim of their strike is to bully airlines and passengers, they don't care.

Had the pleasure of flying back from a nice long weekend in Gran Canaria yesterday. The route LPA-BRU was also affected heavily by the strike: the flight took a bit longer... much longer, it seemed.

Air France unions are threatening the leadership of the airline with a “stormy summer” although no new strike dates have been announced yet.
