Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
As so often with future fleet plans and possible MSN's, this no longer seems to be valid. The first 2 SQ frames will apparently be slightly higher MSN's. It also seems that one of them would shift left, to join during H1 2018.
Rumours are that one of the 'new' A330's will be operated from DUS (for EW) for a number of months next year (instead of going into storage).
It seems that the whole Air Berlin collapse has a strong impact on Brussels Airlines in the near future. I will leave it to you if it's a good or a bad thing.
(Lower likelihood of additional long haul frequencies in 2018 from BRU, but at the same time it is a huge opportunity for Brussels Airlines to show they can manage a long haul operation with multiple bases, making a foundation for a key future role in the Eurowings Group).
Re: Thomas Cook, technical acceptance of TCH is imminent (tomorrow?).
On a side note, I think it worth mentioning that this topic started over 7 years ago dealing with 737 (and BAe146) replacements. Next week, RJ100 replacement will also be behind us, and then, we will be discussing the A330 roll-over until 2020 in this topic. What are we going to discuss after that? A319's being replaced with A320neo's?!

Maybe it is time to start talking/ speculating about the possibility to become a network company.luchtzak wrote: ↑26 Oct 2017, 20:29We are closing the topic at 1,000,000 views 220K views to goDeltaWiskey wrote: ↑26 Oct 2017, 19:59 What are we going to discuss after that? The recent launch of plenty of new holiday destinations is actually bad news.
I would be more happy with news like " SN launches SN Express" ; thar could be the name of a subsidiary like KLM Cityhopper .
With (example) : 6 ATR's and 6 Embraers SN could extend its network and increase its business and loadfactor by connecting 2 or 3 times a day BRU to real business cities:
- Luxembourg
- Amsterdam
- London City
- Bremen
- Bordeaux
- Basel
- Dusseldorf
- Dresden
- Newcastle
- Glasgow
- Genua
- Poznan
- Stavanger
etc
that would bring a lot more PAX than Kalamata and other touristic places (better to leave this to TuiFly..)
But SN has chosen to be apoint-to-point airline.
Wait for the next crisis to see their business-modell collapse..
CS and LH have no respect or esteem for SN.
SN is in no way Germanic.
So it will be the first 'victim' with the next crisis.

EI-FWC from Cityjet is in Erfurt since the 28th of October. I discovered that at Erfurt airport there was a company painting aircraft. Maybe a livery for SN!? Someone has info? Thank you
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Bernard Gustin said in an interview to VTM that the RJ100 is quite old and has 4 engines, so not that cheap in costs compared to other types of aircraft. If you say that, this is a contradiction with the fact that you'll be flying in Germany with old 4-engined A343's. Shows quite clearly that LH decided the routes at DUS for SN...
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Anybody has a clue when DWD will leave BRU for the last time? I presume it will go back to the lessor, even if it gets broken up later on? I don't see them breaking her up at BRU?

A340 were produced till 2011, but from late 1990s to mid 2000s, they get some improvements with the A340-300X and A340-300E versions. Improvements are Engines, avionics, MTWO (maximum take off weight) and Cabin, based mainly on A330 for the A340X and mainly on the A340-500 / 600, for the A340-300E
Air France (and Joon), Swiss (and Edelweiss Airlines) and Lufthansa (and Lufthansa CityLine) use only A340X or A340E. Early built (1992-1995) A340-200s / 300s were phased at Lufthansa and Air France
Airlines look also the number of flying hours and number of cycles (take off and landing). Traffic is growing at Brussels Airlines and i think more and more routes are too big to be served with Avro, not like years ago, when the airline was struggling.
Remaining tinies routes are now served by BMI or CityJet with SSJ and it seems that SN is quite happy. Maybe, the airline will order regional aircraft in the future, but i think it will depend of Lufthansa projects.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Don't know if it was mentioned already somewhere but Bernard Gustin made a quick speech yesterday before the departure of the last Avro flight. apart the Avro story, he welcomed all Thomas Cook employees in the brussels airlines family and mentioned also that some old A330 would be soon replaced. The first "new" one would arrive in decembre 2018. He also mentioned that he could be a good occasion to make a new event like for the last Arvo departing the company. There was no mention of those A343 arriving/SN operating flights for EW.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Are you sure about december 2018 ? Aviation.24 member Danny VDB said in a post 1.10.2017 ( same topic ) A 330 / MSN 915 B-LAH from CX will arrive in january 2018. Maybe december 2017 ? If not it's one year difference !ryandaughter wrote: ↑30 Oct 2017, 13:30 Don't know if it was mentioned already somewhere but Bernard Gustin made a quick speech yesterday before the departure of the last Avro flight. apart the Avro story, he welcomed all Thomas Cook employees in the brussels airlines family and mentioned also that some old A330 would be soon replaced. I'm 99% sure of what I heard and even asked confirmation to the one aside of me to be sure I didn't wrongly understand (I was also expecting such news but for the coming months and not in more than one year).nordikcam wrote: ↑30 Oct 2017, 14:03Are you sure about december 2018 ? My mistakes...My references = an older post :
DannyVDB wrote: ↑01 Oct 2017, 08:57 Hi all,
Interesting readings on airliners.net. They provide the dates the 7 'new' A330 will arrive at SN. here is the list:
A330-342 MSN679 B-LAC CX Oct/2019
A330-342 MSN895 B-LAG CX Mar/2018
A330-342 MSN915 B-LAH CX Jan/2018
A330-342 MSN959 B-LAI CX Apr/2018
A330-343 MSN978 9V-STA SQ Sept/2018
A330-343 MSN983 9V-STB SQ Oct/2018
A330-343 MSN1132 9V-STO SQ Jun/2019
The comment is also interesting: "I have added the timeframe in which the aircraft should arrive at SN (Cabin outfitting to the SN lay-out will take place after this date)... As you can see, 3 A330 will already arrive in the first 4 months of 2018. As far as I understand, one will be used for operations (mainly to serve additional frequencies to Africa), the 2 other a/c will be stored until the new cabin can be installed (in Q4 2018)."
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Does anyone has a full list of the (new) aircraft coming, A330, A320, A319 and SSJ100, their registration and date of arrival? It looks like there is almost 15 new frames coming in the next few month.
