Re: Airbus A350 XWB news
About the A350-900ULR of SQ i read a lot of articles but there seems to be two opinions. One is that these aircraft have extra tanks, the other is that Airbus find some spare volume inside the existing tanks. But its almost 30% more fuel. I cannot make up my mind on this.
Re: Airbus A350 XWB news
Airbus is willing to change the terms of an order for four A350-900s from SriLankan Airlines to different planes. The airline already cancelled four of eight A350s it ordered from Airbus while it searches for a new international partner to revive its fortunes.
On other A350 news, Airbus has no immediate plans to stretch the A350 further. Exit the A350-1100?

Aeroflot is targeting a deal for 28 A350s by end 2017, doubling an initial outline agreement. The board authorised the purchase of a second tranche of 14 A350-900s, but final terms remain to be negotiated. The total transaction will be worth US$8.7 billion at list prices. The A350-900s will partly replace A330s coming off lease.MD-11forever wrote: ↑31 May 2017, 16:21 According to Bloomberg and Interfax, Aeroflot intends to order 14 additional A350-900 aircraft.

Re: Airbus A350 XWB news
Airbus vowed to refit Zodiac seats on all nine A350s operated by Finnair because of quality issues, said the airline’s CEO Pekka Vauramo.
Finnair expects two more A350s in 2017 and the remaining eight at a rate of one per year after that. Carrier may also order up to 30 narrowbodies for delivery from 2022-23 to replace existing A320 family planes. Finnair will assess how many widebodies for growth between 2023 to 2030, as two older A330s to remain in its fleet for another 8 to 10 years. Another two A330s set for 2019 disposal is being re-evaluated.

Airbus has decidedly a lot of trouble with Qatar Airways: they have cancelled an order for 4 A350-900s over delivery delays. A costly cancellation, worth 1 billion dollars...

Re: Airbus A350 XWB news
United Airlines has indefinitely delayed 4 A350-1000 aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2018:
Airbus's U.S. Wide-Body Push Stalls as United Defers A350s
(Bloomberg) -- Airbus SE’s push to sell long-haul jets in its chief rival’s home market suffered another setback as United Airlines became the third U.S. carrier this year to postpone delivery of the European planemaker’s marquee A350.
United is indefinitely delaying the first four A350-1000 aircraft that were slated to enter its fleet in 2018, according to a statement Tuesday by the airline. Meanwhile, the Chicago-based carrier plans to add four comparably sized Boeing Co. wide-bodies that it ordered last month along with 100 of the 737 Max 10, the U.S. manufacturer’s newest and largest single-aisle model.
The moves are among the first to be revealed as United Continental Holdings Inc.’s revamped management reviews the fleet. After discarding a 2016 deal for an older version of the 737, executives are reexamining a bigger transaction: United’s order for 35 of the newest Airbus A350 models, which carries a list value of $12.6 billion at current prices and before customary discounts.
The deferral underscores the risk for Airbus as cheap fuel and an abundance of current-generation models make new aircraft less attractive. United is the second-largest customer of the largest A350 model behind Qatar Airways Ltd., which recently scrapped orders for four A350-900 jets due to supplier delays. Two other major buyers -- Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. and Etihad Airways PJSC -- are retrenching.
Retaining United as a wide-body customer will be crucial for Airbus as it seeks to expand twin-aisle sales in Boeing’s home market. Two months ago, Delta Air Lines Inc. delayed delivery of 10 A350s, while expanding an Airbus narrow-body order. American Airlines Group Inc. has twice postponed its first A350s, most recently in April.

So what's the real reason of all these delays?
Fuel? Trump?

United used to be a subsidiary of Boeing (decades ago). That has left some habits that hardly die...

Airbus A350-900 operators are being instructed by EASA to reset the aircraft’s electrical power system regularly to avoid spurious effects on the type’s avionics.

There's many internal clocks in the modern A/C's and sometimes, you reach the limit of accumulated time in the clock, therefore the computer is resetting by itself and generate a fault.
This is not particular on the 350's and happened as well in the past on the A320 ISIS if I do remember well...
Nothing to worry about, just depower/repower on ground from time to time.

Yes this has already been the case as well with the B787.Desert Rat wrote: ↑28 Jul 2017, 06:42There's many internal clocks in the modern A/C's and sometimes, you reach the limit of accumulated time in the clock, therefore the computer is resetting by itself and generate a fault.

The FAA issued an Airworthiness Directive in December 2016 requesting the power to be cycled at least every 22 days.
Abstract :
SUMMARY:
We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all The Boeing Company Model 787-8 and 787-9 airplanes. This AD requires repetitive cycling of either the airplane electrical power or the power to the three flight control modules (FCMs). This AD was prompted by a report indicating that all three FCMs might simultaneously reset if continuously powered on for 22 days. We are issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.
DATES:
This AD is effective December 2, 2016.
The Director of the Federal Register approved the incorporation by reference of a certain publication listed in this AD as of December 2, 2016.
Good ol' "CTRL+ALT+DEL" solves a lot.

Re: Airbus A350 XWB news
Qatar Airways will take delivery of its first Airbus A350-1000 by the end of 2017, the Gulf carrier’s CEO confirmed Aug. 9.
The airline is the launch customer for the A350 and has been frustrated with delivery delays of the smaller A350-900 model. Earlier this year, it walked away from four of its planned 43 -900s, citing delivery delays.
Group CEO Akbar Al Baker has complained that holdups in deliveries of both the A350 and the re-engined A320neo are hampering the company’s expansion plans.
Speaking at a press conference in Doha Aug. 9, Al Baker said the company had been reassured by the European manufacturer that the first -1000 would be in the Gulf in 2017: “It is now in the certification process and Airbus has assured us that we will receive it late, but we will receive it before the end of the year.”
Qatar Airways plans to use the -1000 on routes to Asia, Europe and the US.
