Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The Avro's will fly the summer season till the end I guess and an A320 from EI will arrive during summer if I'm correct ! Then 2 A320 fron HQ will arrive too...
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the SSX and SSO can also be seen as replacement of the RJ100, so that would mean that the 12 RJ100 are replaced by 3 SSJ100, the SSX and SSO, SNI and then the 2 OO-TC?
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Well... since the replacement of the 12 remaining Avro's already started last year, I think it is only fair to include SSL, SSJ, SSS, SNE and SNH in the equation...
DWB will stop ops in a few weeks time, leaving DWC, DWD and DWE to continue through the summer.
SNI will start ops mid june, but also SSD will be fased out at the end of the year. TCH and TCV will probably start transfer at the end of the year. Don't know when start ops with SN will be. But my guess is early next year.
Anyway, 12 Avro's and 1 A319 out, 5 A319, 5 A320 and 3 SSJ in.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The 2 A320 coming from TCW are not replacement aircraft they come in the same time than all the winter operation of Thomas CookRTM wrote: ↑04 May 2017, 15:47Well... since the replacement of the 12 remaining Avro's already started last year, I think it is only fair to include SSL, SSJ, SSS, SNE and SNH in the equation...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I actually know that, they are expansion to take over the TC ops. However, just looking at the numbers, I see 13 out and 13 in. But I was just answering to Yuqu12 who counted 12 out 8 in.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The RJ100's are, all but one, replaced by either an SSJ or A32F. There normally is/was one spare aircraft for each family, but it was decided to not replace the "spare" RJ100. As from this summer, there will be just one spare aircraft for the whole single aisle fleet. (During the winter it's less of an issue.)

A small comparison:

5 737-400
3 A319
4* A330
total single aisle: 45
total widebody: 4
total number of seats: 5798
Expected** fleet November 2017 (after phase-out of Avro, incl. TCAB):
22 A319
12 A320
4 A330-200
6 A330-300
3 SSJ100 (wet lease)
2 Q400 (wet lease)
total single aisle: 39 (34 excl. wet lease)
total widebody: 10

**Airbus family numbers are more or less firm, wet leases are still likely to change

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Good question, I don't know exactly what will happen with the ERJ. The ERJ and DH8 contracts are up for renewal and will likely be replaced by just one type. That's why I made a note that the wet leases are still likely to change, the 5 frames are a minimum, imo.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I guess Cityjet will be responsible for the spare SSJ100, if one of the three current ones is AOG. It actually already happened once when EI-FWA was sent for an SN flight.DeltaWiskey wrote: ↑04 May 2017, 19:38 The RJ100's are, all but one, replaced by either an SSJ or A32F. In the same way, Flybe is regularly sending a Q400 in its own colours to replace one of the two painted in SN livery.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
They're always sent for an SN flight
I guess you mean as a replacement for an RJ100 flight?
If one of the contract aircraft are sent in for maintenance, its logical that it is replaced by another aircraft by the lessor (likely not in SN livery). But that's not what I meant as "spare" aircraft. I meant a standby aircraft, one that is ready to be dispatched in case of AOG. I think the lessors are only required to supply one if one it concerns a contract aircraft, not for an RJ100 or A32F AOG.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The ERJs fly to quite a number of SN destinations, like Basle, Bremen, Nantes, Nurenberg, Strasburg, Torino, and of course Bristol. Usually 2 aircraft seem to be dedicated to SN, but very often there are 3 of them flying (for SN) at the same time. Their replacement doesn't seem imminent.DeltaWiskey wrote: ↑04 May 2017, 20:58 Good question, I don't know exactly what will happen with the ERJ. The 5 frames mentioned above by DeltaWiskey will not be enough to replace all wet-leased if they include the SSJ.
