Nothing new was mentioned. The new summer destinations had been announced earlier: Mumbai (India), Palma de Mallorca (Spain), Rhodes (Greece), Funchal (Portugal), Comiso (Sicily), and Yerevan (Armenia).Jetter wrote: ↑16 Mar 2017, 18:06Which new destinations were announced?sn26567 wrote: ↑14 Mar 2017, 14:36Stay tuned: further news in two days from now!brusselsairlinesfan wrote: ↑14 Mar 2017, 14:30 As the l/h fleet renewal/extension will be confirmed soon, what can we expect as new destinations? Incidentally (and nothing to do with the results or the outlook), Brussels Airlines intends to celebrate the Avro, which has long been the basis of its network, with a special flight for avgeeks before the last one is retired in October. Some time during the summer?

Great idea to celebrate this. I would definitely go on an Avro, however I have still troubles with my right ear since my AVRO-flight to MXP last September :/

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
Back from Naples, Italy after a nice return flight with... brussels airlines (of course)! I was wondering the following : April is about to begin and we still have no news regarding a possible rebranding. I thought that 2017 was supposed to be an "intermediate step" with the appearance of the "Member of the Eurowings Group" mention to appear on the planes fuselages, interiors, magazines, office/desks, etc... ?
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
Maybe they are rethinking it? It could be that all EW planes will get a "member of the Brussels Airlines Group" instead since they are consistently outperforming EWbrusselsairlinesfan wrote: ↑24 Mar 2017, 15:33 Back from Naples, Italy after a nice return flight with... brussels airlines (of course)! Now serious:
Wasn't 2017 supposed to be a normal year with 2018 being the year where those (little) changes may apply?
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
I'm getting tired to always have explain it again and again...
During 2017 the Eurowings group will monitor the performance of Brussels Airlines and Eurowings.
During 2018, decision will be taken.
From 2019 action will start.
But what is sure is that IF Brussels Airlines change of identity, it will stay a dissociated identity from Eurowings, even if Brussels Airlines is in the group.

This is indeed very clear, thanks!

It is not defined like that, you will already see "action" much sooner than 2019.
Quick and easy synergies will already be implemented during 2017.
How the two companies will be merged will indeed be decided after a 1y analysis, but the merger will start very soon after the hard decisions as they vast majority of the data is already collected. There is already a lot hapenning at the moment.

So... Fuzzy again : full Merger ? Distinct entity ? Best option : wait and see !DeltaWiskey wrote: ↑24 Mar 2017, 19:18It is not defined like that, you will already see "action" much sooner than 2019.

Re: Sukhoi Superjet SSJ100 news
Were these crew members all hired in Belgium? Are they all at least tri-lingual (English-Dutch-French).Or is that not a requirement these days for a Belgian airline?CityJet cabin crew getting ready for Brussels operations!
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
I really don't get this. So, if the name will not change to Eurowings in ANY case, why all this fuss and uncertainty? Why not keeping the name and confirm this from day 1?
I'm really trying to find ANY logic in what LH is doing here but I can't find any. What are they not telling us?
Anyway, I hope LH clearly realizes they can't just replace a flag carrier airline with a generic meaningless lowcost-name like Eurowings. Or even Brusselswings (sounds even worse).
Re: Sukhoi Superjet SSJ100 news
That's a good question. The Flybe and bmi regional crew flying for Brussels Airlines are staunchly "English only". But they were hired in the UK. The Cityjet crew were hired in Belgium, so one may hope that they are tri-lingual.
Anyone has more information?

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
When they were in the break room at CAE (where they had their training), I heard some of them speaking Dutch, others speaking French, and others speaking English. But I don't know if they are all trilingual (i hope so)...
Re: Sukhoi Superjet SSJ100 news
English
French or Dutch

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
Well... I think the fuss and uncertainty was never an issue, it is something that was created here by endless discussions between members that didn't listen to each other, and certainly not to the statements made by SN management. Because if I recall correctly, they stated already a long time ago, that the name would only be changed if a BETTER one was found. Meaning, no EuroWings in my mind. So unless a different sound is coming from that direction, I think it will remain Brussels Airlines for a while yet. Possibly/probably for a long time.Boavida wrote: ↑25 Mar 2017, 12:07I really don't get this. So, if the name will not change to Eurowings in ANY case, why all this fuss and uncertainty? Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
In my opinion, there are only 2 names who can be considered as 'better' than Brussels Airlines:
- Belgian Airlines (this should have been the name from day 1 in 2002)
- Sabena
- Belgian Airlines (this should have been the name from day 1 in 2002)
- Sabena
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
Belgian Airlines doesn't sound good, Air Belgium is a lot better.
What is wrong with Eurowings? After all SN was using the slogan "we fly you to the heart of Europe" for a while.
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
Strange nobody commented yet on the fact that the government has ordered SN to repay 16,9m€ in government support yet?

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
This will have no impact on the results of Brussels Airlines, since it has already been taken into account in the 2017 budget, as mentioned by CEO Bernard Gustin during his press conference on the 2016 results and 2017 outlook.
The €16.8m was foreseen for three years but has only be paid once (2014) and never really been considered as an income in the books of Brussels Airlines, which has put in in a special reserve, expecting that the amount might be reclaimed by the State as in contradiction with European regulations on State aid.
This is also valid for TUI fly and Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium.
