I heard the SSJ would be a wet lease for TUIfly Belgium. Still, if they open a base in Brussels it would be an opportunity for Brussels Airlines.

I wonder how would look a SSJ with a Brussels Airlines livery

Before we speculate, maybe we should just wait for the announcement about the take over? I hope that will bring some clarification.
Maybe, but on the other hand, all (soon 10) A330s will not be replaced at once. I guess that will take a couple of years. So according to me, you have two possibilities if you want to expand your long haul fleet: Keeping older A330s and use the new aircraft for expansion, or replacing the older A330s with the new aircraft and add other and newer A330s for a couple of ye. Since it is the intention to replace older A330s, option 2 is preferred I think. Unless of course the new type can be added at a fast pace.

Does the A330neo exist in both long and short versions? Which one would be preferable for SN?

The newest addition, an A332 from Edelweiss Air (future OO-SFT) is not that young either; over 17 years. http://www.airfleets.net/ficheapp/plane-a330-291.htm

This has more to do with seizing a new route opportunity than taking more time to find a younger frame to fly the route. Now some Indian people have quite recent memories on flying a SN flight in connection to their 9W flight. That in combination with quite a big Indian ethnic group in Belgium is enough reason to start own flights to retain the Belgian-Indian route after 9W switched BRU for AMS.

Correct, but the latest (OO-SFX) is only 7 years, so there are younger models too ;)

From aviator.aero:

CityJet (Ireland) founder Pat Byrne is circling other targets, and is close to deal with a subsidiary of a large European carrier, reportedly Brussels Airlines (Belgium). Cityjet is also continuing talks with SAS Scandinavian Airlines on the expansion of a contract to supply planes and crew on its regional services.

And (out of topic), SAS Scandinavian Airlines confirms that it is in the process of selling its subsidiary Cimber (Denmark) — reportedly to CityJet (Ireland) — with deal expected by end of 2016.

From Rwandan Flyer, this vintage picture, and the explanation afterwards:

Image

Montpellier (FR), mid-90s
Air Inter (FR) was the first ever A330 operator in 1994
F-GMDA (23.5 yo) is now OO-SFM (Brussels Airlines)

Isn't it time to replace this old aircraft?

Sukhoi just published a statement (on Christmas Day) to explain the situation, and indeed they say it is not worrying.

Cityjet is still searching cabin crew for the Brussels base. They have contracted Nobox HR outsourcing for this assignment. Who posted following sponsored ad.

That was the last commercial flight of DWA.
The next Avro that will leave the fleet is DWJ.
