It can't be this because it "happened" in Australia: Qantas QF-1 (A380) Sydney-Dubai returned to Sydney:

Reports on Twitter say a landing gear caught fire on EK521 (Emirates B777) from Thiruvananthapuram (India) to Dubai. Same sources say all passengers were evacuated safely before the fire destroyed the aircraft.

The aircraft however did not climb, but after retracting the gear touched down on the runway and burst into flames. All occupants evacuated safely, no injuries are being reported. The aircraft burned down completely..."

It looks like Boeing is using a lot of combustible materials in the Triple Seven!

I am also very surprised that the first statement of Emirates calls this crash landing an "incident", and not an "accident". be"cause there were no fatalities or injured people? The Aviation Herald was right from the beginning: it's an accident.

Yesterday, another Emirates B777-300 flying from Dubai to Male (Maldives) diverted and made an emergency landing at Bombay after technical problems.
