What will happen to the BRU C-pier?

Post by sab319 »

Does anyone know what will happen to the old C-pier in Brussels? Are they going to demolish it (I know TCAB already started) or are they going to refurbish it? If they demolish it are they goingh to build a new pier?

I hope that in the future they will demolish it and build a new pier. That would be great. But i guess if they do that, it won't be in the next few years, since the extra capacity isn't really necessary now 8) I guess for now they'll leave it just where it is, and they'll deal with the matter in some years, when it is necesary.

But frankly, i don't know anything for sure, this is just my opinion.

or maybe they will build a new modern pier with big capacity to attrack more, bigger "maatschappijen".
Or the "maatschappijen" who fly already to BRU could send more planes to BRU

Thats what i think :P
(probably nothings right :P )

I gues nothing...
Because it's a protected monument they arn't allowed to brake it down. So the only option is to give it a face lift. And that's something that wouldn't be that bad. the props can park on that position than. Now its just collecting dust.

Pier C a protected mounment? You must be joking...

But you are probably right if you think it will stay. I could see it as a future charter terminal when A and B will be saturated in 20 years from now...

It was the intention of BIAC to change the whole old terminal into a charter area. That was before the demise of Sabena...

I hope that biac will keep it since it can indeed be used in a few years when the capacity will reach its limits.

I don't realy think the entire C-pier is protected.

I know the old income-hall is, wich is probably why they refurbished it. And they'll probably keep the C-pier as long as they do not need space to build a new terminal (will take a year or 10-20  )
Anyway, they can still expand the A-terminal to the West if they want because it's designed to expand if necessary

That's right, but I don't think that DHL/EAT would be happy of that solution ;)

I don't think Pier-C is a monument :?
The C-pier is now used as remote-parking... More capacity is not needed in 15-25 years, so: bye bye new pier...

BIAC should offer this terminal to LCC's in Brussels at lower rates than the newer terminals. It is bizarre that a new terminal is being built in CRL soley for Ryanair, which might leave CRL anytime... while BRU is pretty much half empty all the time.

BRU could use some LCC's

Because the C-terminal (referring mostly to the satelitte) was built especially for the the expo in '58 they decided to enter it in the unesco thing.
That was what I've heard so it's possible that i'm wrong .
But anyway with a nice face-lift and some plexi-glas it would be a dream for the spotters.

If they will reacht max capacity at terminal A and B (yeah right, and Elvis lives ;-)) they will enlarge the B terminal in the other direction.

I recall to have seen plans (before collapse of sn) to take down the satttelite and make a large bus-station to serve all commuter aircraft on that platform. Afterwards it was changed, because A-pier changed from dedicated SN-pier to the Schengen departures

Thanks to Biac you have a bird's eye view of a protected monument.
This is the best one in years, since De Croo gave it the name: parochiale luchthaven.
You made my day, good night!

Could someone pick up this pic in a photoshop and indicate the location of the tower and the works at the TGV?
Thanks

I think this picture dates back in a past where military property was still classified

Isn't the TGV construction site at the beginning of runway 02, instead of the red place at the end of 25R?
