180 seats for the A320, just like easyJet or any other LLC flying the A320 (or in the future all the Lufthansa Groups A320s). Ouch, my legs!Kapitein wrote:In what does this retrofit means?

Swiss is already flying with A320's with 180 seats and retrofitted A321'ssn26567 wrote:180 seats for the A320, just like easyJet or any other LLC flying the A320 (or in the future all the Lufthansa Groups A320s). Ouch, my legs!Kapitein wrote:In what does this retrofit means?

In fact André due to the smart reshuffle of the toilets there will be nearly no impact on seat pitch in comparison to the pitch on todays 168 seat 320`s.sn26567 wrote:180 seats for the A320, just like easyJet or any other LLC flying the A320 (or in the future all the Lufthansa Groups A320s). As you have already highlighted this is a LH group wide project, as a matter of fact most of LX 320's are already flying for a while in the MAX configuration.
OS will be the only one doing things a bit different as they have decided to only increase up to 174 seats.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
You will find this a rather late reaction from a non-specialist, but I never paid attention to that aspect...and I must say I'm a little amazed!Bralo20 wrote:I don't think the A330 has the option to be re-engined to another brand of engine (at least not quickly), other type of planes do have the option though (the A380 for example). But re-engining a plane is rarely done since it involves quite a bit of work, in the past it has been done (remember the DC-8 for example where quite a few were re-engined from PW's to CFM's, with other's like the 727 it was merely a type change with the same manufacturer) but in recent days not so much.Airbus A330 wrote: If I'm not mistaken (and I'm far to be an expert in engineering ), aircraft wings are specifically designed for a particular engine type and its "cover" (nacelle in French).
That's why the search of an aircraft with the same engines can be difficult as I think a PW engine can't just be installed on a A330 built for a RR engine (just an example ).
Can someone confirm or correct my message if I'm wrong? Thanks.
I would think the plane manufacturers would build only 1 wing design and that the engines suppliers should adapt their "fastening device" to the aircraft and not vice versa. Are there compelling reasons why it's not done that way?
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The wings are the same. The difference is in the pylons. But that is just the structural part. Wiring, computers, sysem interfaces, etc. are other things to consider. And with the abundance of spare frames in either engine option, not really a viable option.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Two additional long haul aircraft over period of 12 to 15 months
In spring next year, Brussels Airlines will add a ninth Airbus A330 to its fleet. This long-range aircraft allows to connect Brussels Airport and Toronto 5 times a week starting from April, to fill the void of the departure of Jet Airways. Sales of the Toronto flights start next week.
At the same time Brussels Airlines continues to focus on African growth. In spring 2016 extra flights to Kigali (Rwanda) and Entebbe (Uganda) are added to the schedule, bringing the flight frequency to 6 and 4 flights a week respectively.
In the coming 12 to 15 months a tenth A330 will join the fleet to expand the African offer. Brussels Airlines is currently analyzing two new routes, i.e. Lagos and Libreville. More information will be shared later.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Not "only" 1 but 2 additional long-haul aircrafts to reach the 10th mark at least... that sounds good!!!
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Three questions remain about the 9th and 10th A330:
1. -200 or -300 ?
2. Factory fresh or second hand ? (Knowing SN's habits, I guess I know the answer)
3. From whom ?

Regarding the Facebook of sn, the next A330 will be 6 year old and come from Singapour Airlines.
So it will be A330-300

And they have a nice fleet of young A330s which they are going to phase out, do its not going to be an orphan in the fleet for long.
These A330s have much better fuel burn as well as a higher MTOW, so there is no longer going to be the need for a tradeoff between pax and cargo like now, as can be seen in our monthly statistics (with much lower cargo volumes due to the booming loads in the cabin).
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I'm dreaming about a crew bunk! Well if Singapour is phasing out the A330 it could be a nice replacement for Mike, November and Oscar.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Victor, Whisky, Victor, Yankee and Zulu are old and will need to be replaced but can stay still a couple of years however Mike, November and Oscar need to be replaced.

Why "nope"?
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Because that is not the next SN plane...
