A380 @ BRU - 18/09
Hello everyone,
This has probably been treated long ago so I apologize if it is the case but a friend of mine who is flying to Mumbai on Friday 18/09 with Emirates said she had booked the first flight on an A380 from Brussels and that the will be the whole welcome ceremony and everything.
Is that true and even possible ? Does BRU have A380 compatible boarding bridges ? Are the runways/taxiways wide enough ? Is it a one timer for prestige/test or are they planning to use this aircraft for a longer period already ?
Thanks !

18/09 will indeed be the first (commercial) A380 operation at BRU. For now, it's only a test. As far as I know, no regular A380 flight is scheduled, but you never know....

Btw, does someone know where they're going to park it? My guess would be Apron 3 then bussing pax to the terminals.
Re: A380 @ BRU - 18/09
Should park at B33, with jetbridge on the upper deck.

Gate B33 is at the northern or southern side of the pier?sdbelgium wrote:Should park at B33, with jetbridge on the upper deck.
Re: A380 @ BRU - 18/09
Isn't B33 the last one on the north side where the aircraft is parked diagonally?

Has the Jetway on 233 been on steroids lately?sdbelgium wrote:Should park at B33, with jetbridge on the upper deck.
I don't think it is capable of reaching the upper deck unless you put a (big) jack under its wheels.
If it were capable, with only one bridge serving stand 233, the procedure is to use the main deck with upper deck Pax going down to the main deck via the aircraft internal stairs.
@Stij : last stand is 237, next to 233 (no 235).

You're thinking of stand 240 (B40). Stand 233 (B33) is the next to last one on the south side.Stij wrote:Isn't B33 the last one on the north side where the aircraft is parked diagonally?

Agreed, at least that's what I experienced flying the A380 so far (like in DXB), but the jetbridge for the upper deck seemed funHomo Aeroportus wrote: the procedure is to use the main deck with upper deck Pax going down to the main deck via the aircraft internal stairs.

Is BRU airport equipped with a strong enough pushback tractor to handle a A380

Should B33 be its final position, where to be to get a glimpse of the aircraft? I'm talking public area inside the airport without airport badge or boarding pass.Atco EBBR wrote:You're thinking of stand 240 (B40).
