Thomas Cook Group to restructure airline

Post by Boeing767copilot »

Thomas Cook has proposed a new structure for its airlines in the UK, Germany and Belgium.

From March 1, Condor, the Thomas Cook airline brand in Germany, Thomas Cook Airlines UK and Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium will become one airline segment within the group.

Is that the first step to merge the three airlines into a single one that would obviously be Condor? The long-haul flights of Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium are already operated by Condor out of Frankfurt...

Once the new structure is in place, I wonder if we'll be able to earn M&M miles on flights departing from Belgium ?

Condor is member of the Miles&More program in the same extent as all Star-carriers, Air India, Jet Airways, Air Malta, JAT Airways and Air Astana (so not like the fully integrated airline members like SN, LH, OS, LX, LOT, Adria,... but still part of the program).
But I don't see it happening on all Thomas Cook flights (after all Condor's membership is one of the things that's left of the LH/Condor time).

As the flights are DE-codeshare, I would assume you could collect miles on TCW flights (if you would buy the ticket under DE flightnumber).

According to Thomas Cook Belgium spokesman Baptiste van Outryve, Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium will remain a separate Belgian company, registered in Belgium and working with Belgian staff. Only management and administration will be ujnited.
