I demand that Emirates change their schedule to arrive and/or depart at either 9:30 or 18:45!
Actually, arrival at 13:30 and departure at 15:30 on a sunday is an excellent time for me, I tend to be in the area around that time. Sadly not in the next 2 weeks.

Re: Amsterdam welcomes first commercial A380 flight
Euh... thank god for that imo..
A daily A380 will shrink SN again ... and say byebye to thai, quatar ,etihad for sure..
Let's face the real thing,we're a small country, can't compare us to italy,spain,uk,germany..guess this a380 will effect ams operations also... no doubt about that..
I'll like to see it even fly it out of BRU but once
Guess the morning flight of 6 am will be a a380 to fra and then
mmm.. even a a340/b777 is too big for bru except a ua probably or a summer tk one..

New types flown 2024 : DO228, A338 , PC6
Re: Amsterdam welcomes first commercial A380 flight
It's not too big in high season like you say. But like you say as well can't compare BRU to CDG, AMS, FRA, LHR. Why? We are a small country and actually maybe are quite blessed with that the fact that we have a fairly large airport when you consider our small nation.cathay belgium wrote:Euh... thank god for that imo..

Between an A380 and a 777-300ER is 127 Y seats and 34 C class seats. From a passenger perspective it's a downgrade in Y as you go from 34 inch to 32 inch in Y, but C has lie flats...KL will reduce AMS-DXB, but this has also something to do with Arkefly.Tomskii wrote:Bye bye KL.
No A380s at LGW and CPH as well.....chineseboy wrote:only Brussels airport remains the only airport ( in W-Europe) without any A380 commercial flights....
BTW EK wants to go to twice daily AMS-DXB.
Or on BRU-BKK, you never know...cathay belgium wrote:Guess the morning flight of 6 am will be a a380 to fra and then
Doesnt TG fly the 777 to BRU as well?cathay belgium wrote:mmm.. even a a340/b777 is too big for bru except a ua probably or a summer tk one..

Yes,LJ wrote: Doesnt TG fly the 777 to BRU as well?
And they are one of the few long haulers increasing the frequency as from October.
Re: Amsterdam welcomes first commercial A380 flight
TG increasing frequency ?? Which days ? Thx a lot
Re: Amsterdam welcomes first commercial A380 flight
I have heard about possible flights on Sunday, so that would mean flights on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. However speculations go about 5 weekly flights so no clue at this stage. Maybe somebody could confirm this?

Brussels, the capital of the European Union has, let's say, a regional airport and that has nothing to do with a small country .Let's face the real thing,we're a small country
Singapore ,710 km², 5 million inhabitants has 18 A380 in use.
United Arab Emirates (Emirates), 8 million inhabitants has 22 of 90 A380 in use
Australian (Qantas), twice the habitants of Belgium has 12 of 20 A380 in use.
I'm afraid there is no much ambition in this country.
Re: Amsterdam welcomes first commercial A380 flight
That's a wrong comparison, in that way, the USA, a country with 28.5 times the number of people as Belgium, also has no A380.
The point is rather, is someone willing to fly it to BRU?

I think it insn't the ambition of this country, moretheless geographical it is against us, we're a squeezed into the big 5 ( LHR, AMS, GDG, MUC, FRA).
while Singapore/UAE and Austrialia are placed on strategically routes of travelling

erm... too much competition over the Atlantic... ??
A380 to BRU ? no chance ! Even a 777 is not a regular visitor.
Re: Amsterdam welcomes first commercial A380 flight
Sorry but TG, UA, 9W send their 777 to BRU !!
Re: Amsterdam welcomes first commercial A380 flight
No A380? Well, as far as I know LAX and JFK see a few A380s. Moreover seasonal A380s from SFO, IAD and IAH. Not an A380 in their own country, but that's something many countries don't have. Problem for BRU is that those airlines flying an A380 don't fly to BRU (TG will be the exception and the QR A380s aren't due until 2014).earthman wrote:That's a wrong comparison, in that way, the USA, a country with 28.5 times the number of people as Belgium, also has no A380.
Re: Amsterdam welcomes first commercial A380 flight
...is it so difficult to understand that BRU doesn't get the really big widebodies when we are surrounded by several big airports making it a very harsh competition for BRU. If you fly the A380 to AMS and CDG for exemple...why would you send the A380 to BRU when you can reach CDG and AMS (even FRA and LHR) quite fast (by road and by train)???
In the past I heard several carriers saying that the Belgian market is important for them too, but that they don't serve it directly because they can reach our market by serving CDG or FRA or AMS... Really no big suprise...
Btw, even KL says they don't need the A380 because they have not enough routes where they can use it to justify an A380 fleet. AMS-DXB by Emirates with the A380 on the other side is no suprise. With the enormous network EK offers out of DXB they can easily fill that. And no that doesn't mean they can also send an A380 to BRU, because they can serve a large part of the Belgian market already with their flights out of CDG and AMS

Re: Amsterdam welcomes first commercial A380 flight
I could see from time to time an A380 chartered from BRU.LJ wrote:Problem for BRU is that those airlines flying an A380 don't fly to BRU (TG will be the exception and the QR A380s aren't due until 2014).
In many instances in the past I have seen an LH 744 chartered from BRU to the US (New Orleans for example with a load of tourists) or to several places in Asia (economic missions). If the number of passengers is right, why would this not happen with an A380?
