"Brussels Airlines new US destination"-poll (after JFK)

Postby Treeper » 23 Jun 2012, 01:28

The poll about preferrable connecting time is on the homepage since ages (well, October 2011 as far as I can see). Maybe it's time to put this one back up?

Possible destinations could be:
Boston
Chicago
Dallas
Houston
Los Angeles
New York EWR
San Francisco
Washington
(I just took the old ones, cutted JFK and added SFO)

We were right about JFK, so let's keep up the good work and provide SN with their newest TATL-destination! ;)

Note from webmaster: new poll to discuss about a possible future US destination

Denver was also among the suggestions somewhere.

2) Chicago
3) Boston
4) Miami -San Juan (PR) - combined 8-)
5) Denver

1) Boston
(2) Montreal) No US destination, but I think it's not right to exclude Canada in this poll...
3) San Francisco
4) Chicago
5) Houston

I assume everybody is entitled to his own opinion. So, here is mine :

1) an evening flight to NYC
2) (off topic) consolidate the African Network
3) Denver (UA hub with good connection possibilities to the West of the US)
4) (off topic) look at Latin America (especially Panama only served by IB and KL from Europe - if I'm not mistaken - and Copa which has become a member of Star will continue to codeshare with KL/Skyteam ; a nice opportunity of b.air to take KLM's place and co-operate with Star partner Copa) and Brazil
5) China

Sorry if I only mentioned two US destinations and drifted off topic.

Yes indeed, SN will have 2 more 330 this year! Destination like Boston and Montreal can be the next. The JFK route is doing very well..

Go SN :D :D :D

BTW, I also wrote this in the thread on b.air's new long-haul product :

Air Key West » 04 Apr 2012, 18:44

Although I don't like the cold dark blue, grey and white color combination, the new long haul business class cabin looks GREAT ! Cannot wait to try it out. Hope the economy cabin is comfortable, too, and is not like the new cabin on European routes with slim seats that, indeed, give you a bit more leg room, but are otherwise extremely hard and uncomfortable.
With such a new superb long haul product, I hope b.air finds the way and the means to first, at least, slightly increase frequencies on a number of African routes, and then quickly spread its wings to other continents. With such a premium product and with an adequate marketing campaign, b.air should be able to convince travelers they can now compete with the best airlines in the world if the price for the traveler remains competitive. At most airlines in Europe, consequently also at SN, long haul routes make money, but they need a loss making European network to feed the intercontinental flights. It's swings and roundabouts.
Let's hope they find the financial means to develop their long haul network. Would Etienne Davignon and the other bankers on the Board of Directors of SN Airholdings be prepared to grant loans to their "baby" to fairly quickly develop the intercontinental network ? LH's money is currently going to OS, not to SN. New investment money will have to come from somewhere.
But back on track : great new long haul product from what we see on the SN animation.

I'm adding today : two additional long-haul aircraft this year is good. Let's hope b.air can introduce even more long-haul aircraft new next and the years thereafter.

Aha, I see the poll is actually on the homepage now(thank you luchtzak). The time has come to make your choice on which the next US(or TATL) destination for SN should be.

Offtopic, but what could be an option? Beijing, Shanghai or Hong-Kong? Or maybe in Asia, Singapore or Bangkok?

Let's say it's up to b.air to do the marketing research. They seem to have woken up. However, assuming two additional long-haul aircraft would join the fleet each year in the coming years, China is not going to be flown to in the near future, I'm afraid, although I think there still is a potential. My bet would be on Shanghai.

As to this poll, would it not be possible to add the option : Evening flight to JFK ?

I voted for Boston, seemingly the most popular choice.
Personally i would also take a long look at Atlanta. I know, the Delta dominance at ATL is daunting, but it seems a bit underserved by Star Alliance carriers (from the top of my head, i think only LH offers transantlantic flights there...) Might there be room for another Star Alliance carrier there ?

I chose Other, being Denver
For some strange reason even Icelandair can make it work, plus a large partner presence, ...

Go west !

SN -might- go to SFO (they said).

11h00 one way (from AMS f.i)
10h15 return flight (to AMS f.i)

Unexploited (touristical and business) market from both sides among african and european connections in BRU.
Wait and see.

Other times : People Express went to SFO in the eighties with a Boeing 747-200.

Why not going full ahead Jet Airways on Toronto? They might back out like on JFK and Toronto has a huge AC-hub.

FYI: SN and 9W are still partners at this time, if you're going to take every route of your partner airline than it's like getting a knife stabbed in the back..

Do not forget that BRU is a 9W hub for Europe, if SN would be taking all destinations over and 9W runs out of options, then 9W would be moving it's ops to another airport. I'm quite sure of that.
