The Dutch inspection authority IVW - Inspectie Verkeer en Waterstaat - had them already registered as "Verscherpt Toezicht" (Severe Control), and IVW today announced that it will increase those (already severe) inspections as from now.

At this very moment, their legal status on Dutch Chamber of Commerce is "normal status" (http://www.kvk.nl)

The Dutch aviation site http://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl now says that the airline grounded itself as from today (Monday 31/10/2011). Luchtvaartnieuws.nl says that MD Jaap Horsten has sent a mail to all employees, explaining that "extraordinary circumstances have caused valuable disruptions of the operations". So far, the Dutch inspection IVW has not withdrawn the AOC, says luchtvaartnieuws.nl

(message for the Dutch pilots: Air Namibia zoekt dringend A319 piloten. Liefst morgen al te beginnen).

Amsterdam Airlines ceased operations. All activities are immediately stopped. The Dutch airline has informed that to the Inspectorate for Transport (IVW).

The operating license is immediately suspended. The company has now three months time for a possible restart before the final authorization is revoked. But it must then be shown that they are financially healthy and that they meet all safety requirements, according to the IVW.

The company was already under close supervision of the Inspectorate for failing to meet the necessary safety requirements. This included the obligatory manual procedures book, that was not maintained.

Also the disappearance of large contracts and mounting debts were part of the problems. There are rumours of "opaque financial flows to Turkey '.

The employees were told the news yesterday. They will receive no salary, and lost their jobs.

Could be they've filed for bankruptcy, but the trade court hasn't declared them bankrupt yet.

Management of Amsterdam Airlines did not file for bankrupty, but they have gone off with the wind. Staff is not eligible to apply for unemployment benefit, and they did not receive any salary.

So, the employees have filed for bankruptcy themselves now.

Relevant quote from that article (referring to another article): "... There are reports of money deals in Turkey that are not transparent...”.
