Hi,

My first and last flight on a Sabena aircraft was the farewell flight of their B747-300 OO-SGC !
Won't mention my BRU-BKK-Phuket-BRU flight with SLR/SN codeshare...

Seems I started too late flying SN, ..

I said this some years ago, that in the late days of Sabena, you could see an advertisement with all their destinations.
And to be honnest, I didn't know all of them.
I wondered how many Belgians wanted to go to Chennai those days.

The question should read "How many Europeans wanted to go to Chennai". Sabena had been designated by the Swissair group as their airline to serve Chennai.

I believe the Chennai flight was succesfull. Before the proliferation of Indian airlines from/to the Us, many Indian natives, flew from the US on Sabena via BRU, particularly from ORD, as it was one the few foreign airline to serve the city. Also, there was a huge Indian community from that particular area, who lived in Leicester, England. So I guess there was a lot of trafic on the LHR- BRU - Chennai as well.
( Surprised to see BRU-YUL-BRU on a 330. Flew the route quite a lot and always had an MD11)

Thank you for the detailed information.
Just 1 remark off topic: I thought that the Indian community in Leicester came mostly from the other side of the country, from Gujarat.
I work with a company from Leicester and all instructions in the company are bilangual: English and Urdu, the language of this particular Gujarati community.
But please correct me if I am wrong.

Would you believe it, my last flight on Sabena metal was SN3282 BEY-BRU operated by A320 in March of 2001!

It was so nice to feel home until you reached your destination, and to feel right back at home as soon as you stepped on the plane wherever you were coming back from. Don't have this feeling with Brussels Airlines.

Gujarat people don't speak Urdu in general, but Gujarati. Although Urdu (and Punjabi and Bengali) are BIG languages in the UK.

Don't know exact situation in Leicester though.

My last (and only Sabena flight) ever was a BRU-BCN return in 1994 on a 732 (according to my parents, because I was only 3 at the time).
